Gordon Hill (politician)
Gordon Leslie Hill (born 16 May 1951) is a former Australian politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1982 to 1994. He served as a minister in the governments of Brian Burke, Peter Dowding and Carmen Lawrence. Early life Hill was born in Collie, in Western Australia's South West region. He attended Collie Senior High School before going on to Claremont Teachers College and the University of Western Australia, where he trained as a schoolteacher. Hill left the teaching profession in 1975 to work as a research officer with the Federal Minister for the Environment, Joe Berinson. He had joined the Labor Party in 1967. He served as State campaign coordinator in 1976/77 and assistant state secretary in Western Australia from 1977 to 1983. He was also a member of the Federated Miscellaneous Workers' Union.

Joe Berinson
Joseph Max Berinson (7 January 1932 – 2 June 2018) was an Australian politician who represented the Australian Labor Party (ALP) in the Australian House of Representatives and the Western Australian Legislative Council. He was Minister for the Environment in the Whitlam government for several months in 1975, later serving a decade as Attorney-General of Western Australia. Early life Berinson was born on 7 January 1932 in his family home in Highgate, Western Australia, a suburb of Perth. His parents were Shulem (Samuel) Berinson, a master baker, and Rivka (Rebecca) née Finkelstein, both of whom were Palestinian Jews from the city of Safed. Minister for Regional Development is a position in the government of Western Australia, currently held by Alannah MacTiernan of the Labor Party. The position was first created in 1977, for the government of Charles Court, and has existed in most governments since then. The minister is responsible for the state government's Department of Regional Development. 1989 Western Australian State Election
Elections were held in the state of Western Australia on 4 February 1989 to elect all 57 members to the Legislative Assembly and all 34 members to the Legislative Council. The Labor government, led by Premier Peter Dowding, won a third term in office against the Liberal Party, led by Opposition Leader Barry MacKinnon. The result was a major swing against the Labor Party, coming in the wake of revelations of dealings between Government and business that came to be known as WA Inc. The redistribution that took place in 1988, based upon the ''Acts Amendment (Electoral Reform) Act 1987'' which abolished several country and outer metropolitan electorates while creating new metropolitan ones, makes it difficult to assess how Labor would have performed on the old boundaries—while it lost four seats, it gained one Liberal-held seat and won several of the new seats, so in net terms, it only lost one seat despite the massive swing and the low two-party-preferred result. Minister For Employment And Training (Western Australia)
Minister for Training and Workforce Development is a position in the government of Western Australia, currently held by Simone McGurk of the Labor party. The position was first created after the 1933 state election, for the government of Philip Collier, but was abolished in 1943 and not re-created until 1982. It had been a distinct portfolio in most governments since then, albeit under several different names. Ian Taylor (Australian Politician)
Ian Frederick Taylor (born 15 March 1949) is a former Australian politician and Western Australian Deputy Premier and Opposition Leader. Taylor was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly in 1981 as the Labor Party (ALP) member for Kalgoorlie. In 1986, he was appointed Minister for Health and also held the Aged Care, Lands and Consumer Affairs portfolios at various times. Following Brian Burke's resignation in 1988, he became Minister for Police in Peter Dowding's ministry, and on Carmen Lawrence's ascension to the premiership in 1990 he became Deputy Premier and Minister for Finance (although his portfolio varied during this time) corresponding to Premier Lawrence also being the Treasurer. Labor was defeated at the 1993 state election and Taylor became Leader of the Opposition in February 1994 when Lawrence resigned to enter federal parliament. Elections were held in the state of Western Australia on 8 February 1986 to elect all 57 members to the Legislative Assembly and 17 members to the 34-seat Legislative Council.
