Gordon Halliday
Gordon Donald Halliday (born 11 November 1950) is a former Scottish cricketer. Halliday was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born in Edinburgh, Midlothian. Halliday made his debut for Northumberland in the 1981 Minor Counties Championship against Staffordshire. Halliday played Minor counties cricket for Northumberland from 1981 to 1988, which included 48 Minor Counties Championship appearances and 8 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. It was however for his native Scotland that he made his List A debut for, playing 2 matches in the 1983 Benson & Hedges Cup against Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. He also made 2 List A appearances for Northumberland, against Middlesex in the 1984 NatWest Trophy and Essex in the 1986 NatWest Trophy The 1986 NatWest Trophy was the 6th NatWest Trophy. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. Neil Alan Foster (born 6 May 1962) is an English former professional cricketer, who played 29 Test matches and 48 One Day Internationals for England from 1983 to 1993. Domestically Foster played for Essex County Cricket Club from 1980 to 1993, earning his county cap in 1983. He was a fast bowler. Graham Gooch
Graham Alan Gooch, (born 23 July 1953) is a former English first-class cricketer who captained Essex and England. He was one of the most successful international batsmen of his generation, and through a career spanning from 1973 until 2000, he became the most prolific run scorer of all time, with 67,057 runs across first-class and limited-overs games. His List A cricket tally of 22,211 runs is also a record. He is one of only twenty-five players to have scored over 100 first-class centuries. In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). Essex County Cricket Club
Essex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Essex.
