Gordon Campbell was a rugby league player who represented New Zealand national rugby league team, New Zealand in 2 tests in 1932 against England national rugby league team, England. Campbell played in the position of hooker. In the process he became the 223rd player to represent New Zealand. Playing career Richmond Rovers junior and senior debut Gordon Campbell played for Richmond Bulldogs, Richmond Rovers as a junior. In 1924 Auckland Rugby League season, 1924 he was a member of their 3rd grade team. In 1925 Auckland Rugby League season, 1925 he had moved into their 2nd grade side who won the championship. He made his senior debut on April 24 in a match against Grafton Athletic at the Auckland Domain. Richmond Rovers
The Richmond Rovers Rugby League Club is a rugby league club based in Grey Lynn, New Zealand. The premier team is called the Richmond Bulldogs and compete in Auckland Rugby League's Fox Memorial competition. Early history The club was formed in 1913 Auckland Rugby League season, 1913 by employees at Mr. B. W. Davis' Boot Factory and Elliott's, following a scratch game in 1912 Auckland Rugby League season, 1912. The club was originally affiliated with the Eden Ramblers club. In 1883 the land surrounding Grey Lynn Park was subdivided and the houses were built. Neville St George
Robert Neville St George (2 July 1897 – 27 October 1980) was a rugby league footballer. He represented the New Zealand rugby league team in 2 test matches in 1925. In the process he became the 178th player to represent New Zealand. He also represented the North Island and Auckland representative side. St George played his club rugby league in Auckland for the Marist Old Boys side initially before moving to Devonport United (North Shore Albions) where he spent most of his career. Early life Robert Neville St George was born on July 2, 1897, in the Auckland suburb of Papatoetoe, New Zealand. While his first name was Robert he went by Neville for much of his life, reverting back to Robert later. His parents were Lillian Neville, and Robert Montgomery St George. The Auckland Rugby League (ARL) is the governing body for the sport of rugby league in the Auckland Region of New Zealand. It is responsible for rugby league in the region, including both club and school rugby league. It began in 1910 when the first season of club league in Auckland occurred. The first match was a practice game between Newton Rangers and Ponsonby United at Victoria Park which Ponsonby won 17 to 15. The first full club season was in 1910. The Northland rugby league team are a rugby league team that represents the Northland Region in New Zealand Rugby League competitions. They are based in Whangārei. 1929 Auckland Rugby League Season
The 1929 Auckland Rugby League season was its 20th. One of the key events of the season was the tour of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, South Sydney side. The First Grade Championship was won by Ponsonby Ponies, Ponsonby who defeated North Shore Albions, Devonport in the final 5–0. Marist Saints, Marist won the Thistle Cup for competition points accrued during the second round of matches where they went undefeated. They also won the Roope Rooster trophy after defeating Ponsonby Ponies, Ponsonby in the final 17–9. They weren't finished yet, defeating the same opponent to win the Stormont Shield 28–14. This was the second consecutive year that they won both of those trophies. The 1928 Auckland Rugby League season was its 19th. Devonport United won the Senior A Championship for the first time under the Devonport United name, though they had won it twice before as North Shore Albions, prior to the merger with Sunnyside. Marist Old Boys won the Roope Rooster Trophy for the first time. This was their second major trophy after winning the championship in 1924.
