Gordon North Sydney Hockey Club, often called as ''GNS'', is a hockey club based on the North Shore of Sydney, Australia. It is a member of the Northern Sydney and Beaches Hockey Association The men's team has featured many Australian representatives over the years, including Kookaburras Brent Livermore, Jamie Dwyer, Matthew Butturini and Mark Knowles. Australia Men's National Field Hockey Team
The Australia men's national field hockey team (nicknamed the Kookaburras) is one of the nation's most successful top-level sporting teams. They are the only Australian team in any sport to receive medals at six straight Summer Olympic Games (1992–2012). The Kookaburras placed in the top four in every Olympics between 1980 and 2012; in 2016, the Kookaburras placed sixth. They also won the Hockey World Cup in 1986, 2010 and 2014. Brent Livermore
Brent James Livermore OAM (born 5 July 1976 in Grafton, New South Wales) is a field hockey midfielder from Australia. He was first selected in the Australian team in 1997, and was awarded the Kookaburras player of the year award in 2001. He was also nominated of the FIH Player of the Year awards in 2002 and 2005. He has played over 300 matches for the Australian team, and has scored 30 international goals. He plays for the NSW Waratahs in the Australian Hockey League. Brent Livermore won the gold medal with the Kooraburras at the 2004 Olympics, but was omitted from the 2008 Olympic squad that placed third in Beijing. In the World Series Hockey organized by the Indian Hockey Federation and Nimbus Sport, Brent Livermore captains the Chennai Cheetahs, a Chennai-based Hockey team. Jamie Dwyer
Jamie Dwyer (born 12 March 1979) is an Australian field hockey player. He currently plays for YMCC Coastal City Hockey Club in the Melville Toyota League in Perth, Western Australia. He also played for the Queensland Blades in the Australian Hockey League. He debuted for Australia as a junior player in 1995, and for the senior side in 2001. He has played over 350 matches for Australia and scored over 220 goals. He has represented Australia at the 2004 Summer Olympics where he won a gold medal and the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics where Australia won bronze medals. He has also represented Australia at the 2006 Commonwealth Games where he won a gold medal and the 2010 Commonwealth Games where he also won gold. Matthew Butturini (born 7 August 1987 in Murwillumbah) is an Australian field hockey player. He is a member of the Australia men's national field hockey team. He won a gold medal at the 2010 Men's Hockey World Cup and a gold medal at the 2011 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy. He was part of the bronze medal-winning Australian team at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Mark William Knowles (born 10 March 1984) is the Australian field hockey captain. He has played professional hockey in the Netherlands for HC Rotterdam. He plays for the Queensland Blades in the Australian Hockey League. He has been the captain of the Australia men's national field hockey team the Kookaburras since 2014.
