Claudio Gora
Claudio Gora, '' Emilio Giordana '' (27 July 1913 – 13 March 1998) was an Italian actor and film director. He was particularly prolific, making some 155 appearances in film and television over nearly 60 years (from 1939 to 1997). In the 1950s he did dabble with directing and screenwriting and directed the film Three Strangers in Rome in 1958 which was incidentally the first leading role by Claudia Cardinale. Some of his notable roles includes ''Adua e le compagne'', directed by Antonio Pietrangeli, '' Tutti a casa'' by Luigi Comencini, and Dino Risi's ''A Difficult Life'' and ''Il Sorpasso''. Pyotr Gora
Pyotr Evstafievich Gora (russian: Пётр Евстафьевич Гора; 28 December 1922 – 11 May 2002) was a colonel of the Soviet Ministry of Internal Affairs, a participant of the Great Patriotic War, and a Hero of the Soviet Union (1943). Biography Gora was born on 28 December 1922 in the village of Svetilovka (now in Belogorsky District, Amur Oblast) into a peasant family. He graduated from seven classes of junior high school, after which he worked as a driver at a machine-tractor station. In July 1941, Gora was drafted into military service with the Red Army by the Kuibyshev RVK of the Khabarovsk Krai. He served on the front line from 1 August 1942 as part of the 248th Separate Cadet Rifle Brigade. By order of the 248th Brigade № 4/n of 4 March 1943, Gora, then serving with the rank of sergeant as assistant platoon commander of the 3rd Rifle Battalion, was awarded the Medal "For Courage". Ronald Gora
Ronald Francis Gora (July 10, 1933 – March 11, 2014) was an American competition swimmer and Pan American Games champion. Gora was born in Chicago, Illinois and attended Lane Tech High School in Chicago. He remains tied with Tom Jager and Brian Alden for the second most individual high school state championships won by a male in Illinois. Gora won a gold medal in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay event at the 1951 Pan American Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, alongside Dick Cleveland, Burwell Jones and Bill Heusner. Individually, he also received a Pan American Games silver medal for his second-place finish in the 100-meter freestyle. Gora again represented the United States at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland, where he finished eighth in the final of the men's 100-meter freestyle with a time of 58.8 seconds.
