Goose Lake Meteorite
The Goose Lake meteorite is a meteorite that was found at Goose Lake in the United States by two hunters from Oakland, California on October 13, 1938. In 1939 it was acquired by the United States National Museum. From 1939 until January 14, 1941 it was on exhibition at the Golden Gate International Exposition before moving to Washington, D.C. It was placed on display in the National Museum's meteorite hall until that hall was closed in the 1950s. Today, the meteorite is on display at the National Museum of Natural History. No crater was left on the ground where it was found, thus meaning that the velocity of the meteorite's impact was minimal. Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area
Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area is a state park and listed state nature preserve. More than half of the state park is a tallgrass prairie maintained as a natural area of Illinois. It is located in Grundy County near the town of Morris, approximately southwest of Chicago. Ecosystem The Goose Lake region formed in the post-Wisconsin glaciation period as a flat, wet area dominated by layers of sand and silt laid down by postglacial outwash. The Des Plaines River and Kankakee River converge near here to form the Illinois River. Until heavily exploited for its natural resources during the 19th and early 20th centuries, the Goose Lake area was a stable wetland, with swathes of prairie grass surrounding the shallow ''Goose Lake''. The region is in the Central forest-grasslands transition ecoregion. The Goose Lake area has historically been a favorite place for hunting, fishing, and gathering, with geese, ducks, and other waterfowl; a wide variety of fish and shellfish; an ...

Goose Lake Valley
The Goose Lake Valley is located in south-central Oregon and northeastern California in the United States. It is a high valley at the northwestern corner of North America's Great Basin. Much of the valley floor is covered by Goose Lake, a large endorheic lake that straddles the Oregon–California border. Native Americans inhabited the Goose Lake Valley for thousands of years before explorers arrived in the 19th century. The pioneer wagon route known as the Applegate Trail crossed the Goose Lake Valley on its way to southern Oregon. At the south end of Goose Lake, the Lassen Cutoff separated from the Applegate Trail and headed south toward the Sacramento Valley. Today, Lakeview, Oregon, is the largest settlement in the valley. Livestock ranching and lumber mills are the valley's main commercial activity. The Goose Lake Valley offers a number of recreational opportunities including hang-gliding, hunting, fishing, and birdwatching. Geography The Goose Lake Valley ...
