Amanda Shaw
Amanda Christian Amaya-Shaw (born August 2, 1990) is an American Cajun fiddler, singer, and actress from Mandeville, Louisiana. She was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2020. Musical training Shaw received some of her early musical training in Southeastern Louisiana University's Community Music School. She studied classical violin starting at age 4, and at 8 began playing and performing Cajun music. Shaw would have graduated from Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans in 2008 but she opted instead to continue traveling around the country to perform. Shaw earned her G.E.D. in 2008 and planned to attend Tulane University but did not enroll. Performances Shaw and her band, The Cute Guys, regularly perform to audiences around the world. They have toured North America, South America, and Europe. Amanda Shaw & the Cute Guys are a staple at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, performing annually. Trina Shoemaker
Kathryn "Trina" Shoemaker is an American mixer, record producer and sound engineer responsible for producing/engineering and/or mixing records for bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris, Something for Kate, Nanci Griffith, Kristin Hersh, and many more. Early life and career Shoemaker was born in Joliet, Illinois, and attended Joliet Central High School. After graduating in 1983, she moved to Los Angeles and got a job working as a secretary at Capitol Records. She then briefly moved to London where she worked with artist Hugh Harris. On her return to the United States, she began working for producer Daniel Lanois at Kingsway Studios in New Orleans. In 1992 she became the studio's house engineer. Her break came in 1995 when Sheryl Crow fired her producer and hired Shoemaker to engineer her self-produced, self-titled second album '' Sheryl Crow''. Cajun Music
Cajun music (french: Musique cadienne), an emblematic music of Louisiana played by the Cajuns, is rooted in the ballads of the French-speaking Acadians of Canada. Although they are two separate genres, Cajun music is often mentioned in tandem with the Creole-based zydeco music. Both are from southwest Louisiana and share French and African origins. Biography Irvin Mayfield, who was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, is the youngest of nine children from Joyce Alsanders and Irvin Mayfield Sr. Joyce Alsanders was a schoolteacher in New Orleans’ Upper Ninth Ward. His father, Irvin Mayfield Sr., was a drill sergeant in the United States Army and a boxer who died in the flood after Hurricane Katrina.
