Gonçalo Inácio
Gonçalo Bernardo Inácio (; born 25 August 2001) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a central defender for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team. Early life Inácio was born in Almada, Setúbal District and raised in Seixal, a municipality located away. Growing up, he would play football wherever he could on the streets or in his house, and regularly attended Sporting CP matches with his father. Despite not having a particular idol, Inácio looked to emulate Jérémy Mathieu. Club career Inácio began his career at local Almada, before moving to Sporting's academy. Sporting Clube de Portugal, founded Sporting Club de Portugal (), otherwise referred to as Sporting CP, often known abroad as Sporting Lisbon , is a Portuguese professional sports club based in Lisbon. In association football, an assist is a contribution by a player which helps to score a goal. Statistics for assists made by players may be kept officially by the organisers of a competition, or unofficially by, for example, journalists or organisers of fantasy football competitions. In association football, a substitute is a player who is brought on to the pitch during a match in exchange for an existing player. Substitutions are generally made to replace a player who has become tired or injured, or who is performing poorly, or for tactical reasons (such as bringing a striker on in place of a defender). A player who has been substituted during a match takes no further part in the game, in games played under the standard International Football Association Board Laws of the Game. Substitutions were officially added to the Laws of the Game in 1958. Prior to this most games were played with no changes permitted at all, with occasional exceptions in cases of extreme injury or players not arriving to matches on time. Portimonense Sporting Clube is a Portuguese sports club based in Portimão. Founded on 14 August 1914, it is most notable for its professional football team, which currently plays in the Primeira Liga, the top flight of Portuguese football.
