Gonzalo Castillo (politician)
Gonzalo Castillo Terrero (born 20 November 1960) is a Dominican businessman and politician. He was Minister of Public Works and Communications from 2012 to 2019. In July 2019 he sought the Dominican Liberation Party's presidential nomination for the 2020 elections. He won the nomination, but lost the general election to Luis Abinader. Biography Gonzalo Castillo Terrero is the second of five brothers from the marriage of Miriam Terrero Samboy from the region of Enriquillo and Gonzalo Castillo Peña, from BanÃ. He completed his primary studies at the Divina Pastora school in Barahona and later moved to San Cristóbal to do secondary education at the Instituto Politécnico Loyola. There he obtained the title of "Expert in Industrial Electronics" in 1980. Later he studied in Quebec, Canada. Barahona, Dominican Republic
Barahona, also known as Santa Cruz de Barahona, is the main city of the Barahona Province, in the southwest of the Dominican Republic. It has one of the most active ports in the region, as well as many ecotourism attractions. The city is a centre of sugar production and industry. Barahona is also known for being the only place where the rare Larimar stone can found. Reinaldo de las Mercedes Pared Pérez (25 September 1956 – 29 October 2021) was a Dominican politician. He represented Distrito Nacional in Chamber of Deputies from 1998 to 2002, and served in the Senate since 2006. Pared Pérez was president of the senate twice, between 2006 and 2014, and again between 2016 and 2020. A member of the Dominican Liberation Party, he was named general-secretary in 2001.
