Jon Gomm
Jon Gomm (born 11 July 1977) is an English singer-songwriter and performer. Using a single acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, bass lines and melodies simultaneously, his songs draw on a range of influences and styles including blues, soul, rock and even metal. Michael Hedges is an important source of inspiration. To date he has recorded three solo albums and has toured full-time since 2004. Biography Jon Gomm started playing ukulele at the age of two. Classical guitar lessons began at the age of four, and at twelve, he was accompanying his father, a music critic, to blues gigs in his hometown of Blackpool. As a teenager, he played electric guitar in the style of the rock greats. On leaving school, Gomm turned down a place at Oxford University studying English to attend The Guitar Institute (now part of the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance) in London. William Maynard Gomm
Field Marshal Sir William Maynard Gomm (10 November 178415 March 1875) was a British Army officer. After taking part in the Anglo-Russian invasion of Holland, he served in most of the battles of the Napoleonic Wars. During the Hundred Days he took part in both the Battle of Quatre Bras and the Battle of Waterloo. He went on to be Commander of the troops in Jamaica and in that role established new barracks at Newcastle, Jamaica, high in the mountains. After that he became Governor of Mauritius and, finally, Commander-in-Chief, India, in which role he introduced promotion examinations for officers. Ian Gomm
Ian Robert Gomm (born 28 March 1947 in Chiswick, West London) is a British singer-songwriter, who was the rhythm guitarist for Brinsley Schwarz from 1970 to 1974. He was named "Best Rhythm Guitarist" by ''NME'' in 1971. Early career Gomm's career began circa 1962/1963 in Unit 4, a group which evolved out of an outfit formed by Gomm on rhythm and lead guitar and vocals, Martin Davis on bass and Simon Behar on drums, all of whom were pupils at Ealing County School for Boys. Soon after this formation, Frank Kennington, who was older than the others, joined as lead vocalist, and they became Unit 4. Mick Lieber, who had previously played with Frankie Reid & The Casuals and Clay Alison and the Searchers, joined Unit 4 around July 1964, but the new line-up was short-lived. Around October 1964, Kennington left and moved to Sydney, Australia, precipitating Unit 4's eventual break-up. Brian Gomm
Brian Arthur Gomm (24 June 1918 – 23 April 1995) was an English cricketer and footballer who made two first-class cricket appearances for Somerset in 1939 and played football for Yeovil in 1936-39 and for West Bromwich Albion in 1939 and 1945/46. He had amateur status in both sports. Early life Born at Castle Cary, Gomm attended Sexey's School, Bruton, where he distinguished himself as an athlete, and subsequently studied physical education at Dudley Training College and Carnegie College, Leeds.
