David Golub
David Golub (March 22, 1950 – October 16, 2000) was an American pianist and conductor. Biography Born in Chicago, Golub moved with his family to Richardson, Texas when he was five years old. He began piano lessons not long thereafter when his father, himself an amateur musician, noticed the boy attempting to play Beethoven’s ''Moonlight'' Sonata by ear. Following study with Dallas teachers Betty Lief Sims and Alexander Uninsky, Golub entered the Juilliard School, where he studied with Beveridge Webster, at age 18; parental concerns had prevented his acceptance of a scholarship offered four years earlier. Golub soon began what would be a series of well-respected chamber music partnerships by teaming with cellist Leonard Rose. Harvey Golub (born April 16, 1939) is an American businessman. Biography Born to a Jewish family, Golub attended Cornell University and received a Bachelor of Science from the New York University. He worked as a senior partner with McKinsey & Company. In 1983, American Express hired him to investigate a possible acquisition – Investors Diversified Services. After acquiring IDS, American Express hired Golub to run the company, which became American Express' second most profitable sector. Jeff Golub (April 15, 1955 – January 1, 2015) was an American jazz guitarist who had a solo career and who led the band Avenue Blue. He worked as a sideman for a number of rock and pop musicians. He was arguably best known for his work with Rod Stewart 1988-95. Career Golub was born in Copley Township, Ohio, near Akron. He grew up listening to pop music, rock, blues, funk, and R&B. In the 1970s, he attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston. 1980, he moved to New York city, and worked for rock guitarist Billy Squier. During the 1980s and '90s, he worked as a sideman for Ashford & Simpson, Tina Turner, John Waite, Dar Williams, Vanessa Williams, and Peter Wolf. 1988–95, he recorded and toured with Rod Stewart. Leon Golub (January 23, 1922 – August 8, 2004) was an American painter. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, where he also studied, receiving his Bachelor of Arts, BA at the University of Chicago in 1942, and his Bachelor of Fine Arts, BFA and Master of Fine Arts, MFA at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1949 and 1950, respectively. Irina Ivanovna Golub is a Russian-born ballerina, formerly with the Mariinsky Ballet, once known as the Kirov Ballet. Born in what was then Leningrad, and a graduate of the Vaganova Academy, Ms. Golub joined the Mariinsky in 1998 at the age of eighteen. Known for her great beauty and acclaimed for her dancing by critics, she has been hailed in the Mariinsky production of George Balanchine's ''Jewels'', in which she danced ''Rubies''.
