Golf arrived in Thailand during the reign of King Rama V at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club and Royal Hua Hin Golf Course. It was first played by nobles and other elites of high society but is now played by a wider segment of the population. Retail and fashion industries golf promotions are popular in the Si Lom Road part of Bangkok in Thaniya Plaza shopping mall. As of 2022, there are approximately 300 golf courses in Thailand. 124 golf courses were built between 1990-1995. An estimated 700,000 tourists fly into Thailand every year to play golf. Amata Spring Country Club
The Amata Spring Country Club is a private golf and country club near to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. It hosts two high-profile golf tournaments which were introduced in 2006. The Royal Trophy is a team competition between Europe and Asia, and the Honda LPGA Thailand is the first LPGA Tour event in Thailand. These are currently the two richest golf events held in Thailand. True Thailand Classic
The Thailand Classic is a professional golf tournament currently played on the European Tour. The tournament was created in 2015, as a co-sanctioned event between the Asian Tour and the European Tour. History The inaugural tournament was played from 12–15 February 2015 at the Black Mountain Golf Club, in Hua Hin. The tournament was renamed as the True Thailand Classic after the True Corporation had committed to sponsoring the event. It had a purse of , twice as high as the other leading tournaments in the country, such as the Thailand Golf Championship and Thailand Open. Australian Andrew Dodt won the inaugural tournament by one stroke over Scott Hend and Thongchai Jaidee. Hend won the following year.
