Goldfields Giants
Goldfields Giants is an NBL1 West club based in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 West. The team is affiliated with Kalgoorlie-Boulder Basketball Association (KBBA), the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Giants play their home games at Niels Hansen Basketball Stadium. Team history SBL The Goldfields Giants, a men's basketball team, entered the State Basketball League (SBL) in 1990. The Giants' initial coaching staff included Head Coach Randal Hulme and his assistant Ned Coten. Americans Calvin Earl and Paul Graham were the team's first import players, while Keith Malcolm served as the first team captain. NBL1 West
NBL1 West, formerly the State Basketball League (SBL), is a semi-professional basketball league in Western Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2020, Basketball Western Australia partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to bring NBL1 to Western Australia. NBL1 replaced the former SBL to create more professional pathways and opportunities for males and females playing basketball in Western Australia. As a result, the SBL became the west conference of NBL1. History The State Basketball League originated in 1972 as the District Competition. 2022 NBL1 West Season
The 2022 NBL1 West season is the second season of the NBL1 West and 33rd overall in State Basketball League (SBL) / NBL1 West history. The regular season began on Friday 8 April and will end on Saturday 13 August. The finals will begin on Friday 19 August and conclude with the women's grand final on Friday 2 September and the men's grand final on Saturday 3 September. Regular season The regular season began on Friday 8 April and will end on Saturday 13 August after 19 rounds of competition. Easter games in round 2 have again been scheduled for a blockbuster Thursday night, with all teams then on a break over the long weekend. Mark Heron (basketball)
Oceansize were an English rock band from Manchester, formed in 1998. The band consisted of Mike Vennart (vocals, guitar), Steve Durose (guitar, backing vocals), Richard "Gambler" Ingram (guitar, keyboards), Mark Heron (drums) and Jon Ellis (bass guitar) for the majority of its career, with Steve Hodson replacing Ellis on bass guitar in 2006. Ty Harrelson (born September 22, 1980) is an American-Australian former professional basketball player who played the majority of his career in Germany and Australia. He is the current head coach of SC Rasta Vechta in the German Basketball Bundesliga. High school and college career Harrelson grew up as the son of two college basketball players. Under the guidance of his father, Harrelson had a historic high school career split between Sonora High School and S. H. Rider High School. Calvin Earl is an American singer, musician, storyteller and documentary film maker specializing in the history of African American Spirituals. His passion for the preservation of the spirituals led him to lobby for the introduction of twin resolutions (H. Res. 120 and S. Res 69) in the United States Congress in 2007, to honor American slaves for their contribution to the American nation and recognize the African American Spiritual as a National Treasure. He is referred to in the legislation as a “noted performer & educator of the African American Spirituals". Because of his successful efforts in the passage of the legislation, Earl became affectionately known as the "Ambassador of the African American Spirituals".
