Golden Vein
''The Golden Vein'' ( it, La vena d'oro) is a 1955 Italian drama film directed Mauro Bolognini and starring Märta Torén and Richard Basehart. It is based on a play by Guglielmo Zorzi which had previously been made into a 1928 silent film ''The Golden Vein''. Plot Corrado is a teenager who lives with his mother Maria who has been totally dedicated to him since her husband's death. The boy invites Stefano, an archaeologist, to his house, who immediately falls in love with the woman. Maria begins to flourish again but her son, exaggeratedly jealous, tries to stop this story in the bud and at the same time ruins his first love affair with Carla. Mauro Bolognini
Mauro Bolognini (28 June 1922 – 14 May 2001) was an Italian film and stage director of literate sensibility, known for his masterly handling of period subject matter. Early years Bolognini was born in Pistoia, in the Tuscany region of Italy. After earning a master's degree in architecture at the University of Florence, Bolognini enrolled at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Italian National Film Academy) in Rome, where he studied stage design. After graduation, he became interested in film direction and set out to work as an assistant to directors Luigi Zampa in Italy, and Yves Allégret and Jean Delannoy in France. Film and television Bolognini began directing his own feature films in the mid-1950s, and received his first international success with '' Wild Love'' (''Gli innamorati''). Märta Torén
Märta Torén (21 May 1925 – 19 February 1957) was a Swedish stage and film actress of the 1940s and 1950s. Torén's father was a Swedish military officer, and for three years, during World War II, she was a secretary in the Swedish war office. After studying at the Stockholm Royal Dramatic Theater's Royal Dramatic Training Academy, Torén began her career on the stage and from 1947 she appeared in films. She appeared on the cover of the June 13 issue of ''Life Magazine'' in 1949. Torén appeared in 11 American film productions during her brief career. One of her roles was opposite Humphrey Bogart in ''Sirocco'' (1951), and she also co-starred with Dana Andrews in ''Assignment – Paris! Richard Basehart
John Richard Basehart (August 31, 1914 – September 17, 1984) was an American actor. He starred as Admiral Harriman Nelson in the television science-fiction drama ''Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea'' (1964–68). He also portrayed Wilton Knight in the pilot episode of the TV series ''Knight Rider'' (1982), and provided the narration that was heard during the opening credits throughout the entire series. Basehart was equally active in cinema, receiving National Board of Review Awards for his performances in ''Fourteen Hours'' (1951) and ''Moby Dick'' (1956). He was further nominated for a BAFTA Award for his role in ''Time Limit'' (1957), the only film directed by Karl Malden.
