Golden Valley Lutheran College
Golden Valley Lutheran College was founded as the Lutheran Bible Institute. The LBI was a two-year degree-granting Lutheranism, Lutheran educational institution established in 1919 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, St. Paul, Minnesota. It moved to Minneapolis in 1929 and then to Golden Valley, Minnesota in 1961. It opened Trinity Lutheran College (Washington), Lutheran Bible Institute of Seattle in 1944, which would become Trinity Lutheran College, a four-year degree-granting institution. Former Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, and Washington Wizards head coach Flip Saunders began his basketball coaching career here in 1977 and never lost a home game as coach, going 56–0. Former pro wrestler (and now evangelist) Nikita Koloff played football at the college. Pro wrestler Road Warrior Animal also played football here. Joseph Michael Laurinaitis (September 12, 1960 – September 22, 2020), better known by his ring name Road Warrior Animal (or simply Animal), was an American professional wrestler. Along with Road Warrior Hawk, he was one half of the tag team The Road Warriors/The Legion of Doom. He headlined multiple pay-per-view events for the WWF and WCW, competing for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at 2001's Sin. The Perpich Center for Arts Education is an agency of the state of Minnesota that seeks to advance K-12 education throughout the state by teaching in and through the arts. A campus in Golden Valley houses the center's three main components: the outreach and professional development group, Perpich Arts High School and the Perpich Arts Library. Nikita Koloff (born Nelson Scott Simpson on March 9, 1959) is an American retired professional wrestler. He is best known for his appearances with Jim Crockett Promotions and its successor, World Championship Wrestling between 1984 and 1992, where he was billed from Russia (and, following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Lithuania). Philip Daniel "Flip" Saunders (February 23, 1955 – October 25, 2015) was an American basketball player and coach. During his career, he coached the La Crosse Catbirds, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, and Washington Wizards. High school and college player Saunders was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He was an All-state basketball player at Cuyahoga Heights High School in Cuyahoga Heights, Ohio, suburban Cleveland. In his senior season, 1973, he was named Ohio's Class A High School Basketball Player of the Year, leading the state in scoring average with 32.0 points per game. Trinity Lutheran College was a private Christian liberal arts college in Everett, Washington. It offered bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, and 1-year certificates. The college ceased instruction in 2016. History Lutheran Bible Institute of Seattle (LBI) was founded in 1944 as an extension of the Lutheran Bible Institute based in Minneapolis and became independent in 1959.
