Golden Motors
Golden Motors is a Russian auto racing team based in Saint Petersburg. They are best known for their efforts in the FIA World Touring Car Championship. Team history The team was formed in 2004 by businessman and driver Andrey Smetsky along with Alexander Lvov, a successful driver in the Russian Touring Car Championship (RTCC). They initially ran Super Production class Honda Civic Type Rs in the RTCC, switching to the Super 2000 Honda Accord Euro R for 2007. These new cars had been prepared by the Italian World Touring Car Championship team, JAS Motorsport. Golden Motors entered one round of the WTCC at Anderstorp under the Golden Motors Honda Dealer Team banner. They returned for two rounds in 2008, at Valencia and Brno. No success was achieved and the team did not return to the WTCC in 2009. They have most recently competed in the Finnish Touring Car Championship. Andrey Smetsky
Andrey Smetsky (born 16 February 1973 in Saint Petersburg, Leningrad) is a Russian auto racing driver. Career He has competed in the Russian Volkswagen Polo Cup, Russian Super Production Championship and the Russian Lada Ice Cup. In 2007 he finished runner-up in the Russian Touring Car Championship with a touring class Honda Accord. That same year he competed in round of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, FIA World Touring Car Championship for his Golden Motors team. In 2008 he returned for two rounds of the WTCC with no success. The FIA European Touring Car Cup was an annual touring car racing event, which had been held at various locations across Europe from 2005 to 2017. Unlike in previous years where it was a one-off event, in 2010 the series was a three round event. Anderstorp Raceway, previously known as Scandinavian Raceway, is a motorsport race track in Anderstorp (Gislaved Municipality), Sweden and the sole Nordic host of a Formula One World Championship Grand Prix, when the Swedish Grand Prix was held for six years between 1973 and 1978. Track history The track was built on marshlands in 1968 and became an extremely popular venue in the 1970s, just as Swede Ronnie Peterson was at the height of his career. It has a long straight (called ''Flight Straight'', which is also used as an aircraft runway), as well as several banked corners, making car setup an engineering compromise. Super 2000
Super 2000 is an FIA powertrain specification used in the World Rally Championship, the British Touring Car Championship, the World Touring Car Championship, and other touring car championships. The engines were originally 2 L naturally aspirated, and later being also allowed 1.6 L turbocharged units producing approximately 280 bhp. The goal of the Super 2000 classification is to allow more manufacturers and privateers to race by reducing the cost of a competitive car. In order to cut costs and shorten development time, the Super 2000 rally cars originally used a common control gearbox and drivetrain made by a French company, Sadev. World Touring Car Championship
The FIA World Touring Car Championship was an international touring car championship promoted by Eurosport Events and sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).
