The Golden Melody Award for Best Mandarin Album () is an honor presented at the Golden Melody Awards, a ceremony that was established in 1990, to recording artists for quality Mandopop music albums. The honor was first presented in 2005 as Best Mandarin Pop Vocal Album at the 16th Golden Melody Awards to Sandee Chan for ''Then We All Wept in Silence''. In 2007, the category became known as Best Mandarin Album. Mandopop or Mandapop refers to Mandarin popular music. The genre has its origin in the jazz-influenced popular music of 1930s Shanghai known as Shidaiqu; with later influences coming from Japanese enka, Hong Kong's Cantopop, Taiwan's Hokkien pop, and in particular the Campus Song folk movement of the 1970s. 'Mandopop' may be used as a general term to describe popular songs performed in Mandarin. Though Mandopop predates Cantopop, the English term was coined around 1980 after "Cantopop" became a popular term for describing popular songs in Cantonese. "Mandopop" was used to describe Mandarin-language popular songs of that time, some of which were versions of Cantopop songs sung by the same singers with different lyrics to suit the different rhyme and tonal patterns of Mandarin. MCHotDog (; born April 10, 1978) is a Taiwanese rap artist known for his use of explicit lyrics in his songs. In 2001, his four mini-CDs sold over 220,000 copies. In 2004, he toured with Chang Chen-yue in the North American Kill Kitty tour. Penny Tai
Penny Tai (; born 22 April 1978) is a Malaysian singer, songwriter, producer and director. Since her debut in 2000, she has achieved many successes in her music career, including winning 5 Golden Melody Awards. In addition to performing arts, Tai is enthusiastic about charity and was elected as one of Malaysia's Top Ten Outstanding Youths in 2011 .
