The Gold Coast City Art Gallery was a regional Art museum located in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Conrad Jupiters Art Prize
The Gold Coast Art Prize is an annual acquisitive exhibition run by the Gold Coast City Art Gallery in the city of the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. One of Australia's oldest art prizes, it began in 1968 as the Gold Coast Art Prize but was known as the Conrad Jupiters Art Prize from 1990 to 2006 and as the Stan and Maureen Duke Gold Coast Prize from 2007 to 2011. Colin Laverty
Colin Robert Andrew Laverty (26 May 1937 – 9 February 2013) was an Australian medical practitioner and was the first to confirm (using electronmicroscopy) that the human papillomavirus was much more common in the cervix than previously thought and in 1978 he suggested that this virus be considered as possibly involved in the causation of cervical cancer. He was also a prolific art collector. Early life Laverty was born in Sydney, New South Wales, the son of medical practitioners Colin (Tas) Laverty and Beryl Laverty. He attended Newington College (1949-1953) and then the University of Sydney. He had the qualifications MB, BS; BSc (Med); DCP (Syd); FRCPA; Dip.Cytopath (FRCPA). Patrick Corrigan (businessman)
Patrick Corrigan, AM (born 9 September 1932), is an Australian businessman, art collector and philanthropist. Early life Corrigan was born at Hangkow (now Hankou, part of the city of Wuhan), central China. Corrigan and his mother were granted a travel permit and left mainland China ahead of his father aboard the SS Fausang, which was captured in the Battle of Hong Kong on 8 December 1941, the same day as the attack on Pearl Harbor. Corrigan and his mother subsequently spent four years in the Stanley Internment Camp during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong.
