Going In Style (1979 Film)
''Going in Style'' is a 1979 American heist film, heist comedy film written and directed by Martin Brest and starring George Burns, Art Carney, Lee Strasberg (in his final film role) and Charles Hallahan. It was Brest's first commercial feature film. Plot Joe (George Burns), Al (Art Carney), and Willie (Lee Strasberg) are three senior citizens who share a small apartment in Queens, New York City. Their days are spent on a park bench, and Joe is desperate to break the monotony. One day Joe suggests that they go on a "stick-up". They have no experience as criminals, but after some reluctance the two others agree. Al surreptitiously borrows three pistols from the gun collection of his nephew, Pete (Charles Hallahan), who lives with his wife and children a few miles away. Billy Williams (cinematographer)
Billy Williams OBE, BSC (born 3 June 1929, Walthamstow, London) is a British cinematographer. Williams was responsible for shooting a number of films, including ''Women in Love'' (1969), '' On Golden Pond'' (1981) and ''Gandhi'' (1982), for which he won an Academy Award. Williams joined his father, also named Billy, as an apprentice cameraman, remaining with him for four years. Later he served in the RAF as a photographer. On leaving the RAF he obtained a job with British Transport Films (BTF), filming all forms of transportation. After this, it was to Iraq (where he later shot the opening scenes to ''The Exorcist'', 1973), filming for the Iraq Petroleum Company. At this time he owned his own Arriflex camera. Martin Brest (born August 8, 1951) is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. Education Brest was born in the Bronx, New York, and graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1969, from New York University's School of the Arts in 1973 and from the AFI Conservatory with an M.F.A. degree in 1977.
