Going Furthur
''Going Furthur'' is an American-Canadian documentary film about taking Ken Kesey's bus '' Furthur'' back on the road in 2014 for a 75-day trip covering 15,000 miles, along with a group of new Merry Pranksters. Synopsis ''Furthur'' is a retrofitted school bus purchased by author Ken Kesey in 1964 to carry his " Merry Band of Pranksters" cross-country. The bus was also featured in Tom Wolfe's 1968 book ''The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test''. In Summer of 2014, Zane Kesey, son of Ken, took a replica of Furthur on the first major trip since Ken took the bus to Europe in 1999, on a 15,000 mile tour of the United States, stopping at music festivals and other events. The bus makes stops at The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors - Alex Grey and Allyson Grey's art sanctuary, Millbrook, New York, the infamous home of Timothy Leary and Woodstock's 45th anniversary. Wavy Gravy
Hugh Nanton Romney Jr. (born May 15, 1936), known as Wavy Gravy, is an American entertainer and peace activism, activist best known for his role at Woodstock, as well as for his hippie persona and counterculture of the 1960s, countercultural beliefs. He has reported that his moniker was given to him by B.B. King at the Texas International Pop Festival in 1969. Romney has founded or co-founded several organizations, including the activist Intentional community, commune, the Hog Farm, and later, as Wavy Gravy, Camp Winnarainbow and the Seva Foundation. He founded the Phurst Church of Phun in the 1960s, a secret society of comics and clowns that aimed to support ending of the Vietnam War through political theater, and has adopted a clown persona in support of his political activism, and more generally as a form of entertainment work, including as the official clown of the Grateful Dead. Lee Quarnstrom
Lee Quarnstrom (1939 or 1940 – September 29, 2021) was an American journalist, executive editor of Larry Flynt’s ''Hustler Magazine'', and a Beatnik. He was a core member of the Merry Band of Pranksters, a group loosely led by novelist Ken Kesey. Career Quarnstrom grew up in Longview, Washington and the Chicago suburb of Wilmette, Illinois where he attended New Trier High School. Quarnstrom's journalism career began with the City News Bureau of Chicago, which soon gave way to his cross-country adventures. As a post-Beat Generation, pre-Hippie beatnik, Quarnstrom lived in San Francisco, Greenwich Village, Seattle, Mexico City, and Ken Kesey’s remote home in the Santa Cruz Mountains above the San Francisco Bay Area. At a cabin in La Honda, California, where Quarnstrom lived, frequent visitors included the Hells Angels and The Warlocks, who were precursors to the Grateful Dead. The Byron Bay Film Festival is a popular AACTA Awards accredited independent awards-based film event held in the late Australian summer at the Byron Community & Cultural Centre, in the coastal town of Byron Bay. The Whistler Film Festival (WFF) is an annual film festival held in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.
