Charles Wayne Goforth
Charles Wayne Goforth (October 22, 1931 – March 16, 2018) was an American law enforcement officer and politician. Born in Tamaroa, Illinois, Goforth served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He went to the Illinois State Police Academy and then served with the Illinois State Police. He lived in Nashville, Illinois. From 1985 to 1991, Goforth served in the Illinois House of Representatives and was a Republican. After his service in the Illinois House of Representatives, Goforth switched his party affiliation and joined the Democratic Party. Murder Of Darren Goforth
The murder of Darren Goforth refers to the shooting death of a ten-year deputy sheriff of the Harris County Sheriff's Office on August 28, 2015. Goforth, who was in uniform at the time, was killed by Shannon Miles, a repeat offender with a history of mental illness, who shot Goforth repeatedly in the back of the head with a .40 caliber handgun while Goforth was fueling his car. Miles' mother provided an alibi, but the police found the murder weapon in his garage, and he pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty; he was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole in September 2017. The murder led to a scandal in the Harris County Sheriff's Department. David Goforth
David Paul Goforth (born October 11, 1988) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He pitched in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Milwaukee Brewers from 2015 through 2017. Career Amateur career Goforth attended Neshoba Central High School in Neshoba County, Mississippi, and the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), and played college baseball for the Ole Miss Rebels baseball team. Goforth redshirted in his first year at Ole Miss, and spent his redshirt freshman season as a relief pitcher. Jonathan Goforth
Jonathan Goforth (, February 10, 1859 – October 8, 1936) was a Canadian Presbyterian missionary to China with the Canadian Presbyterian Mission, along with his wife, Rosalind (Bell-Smith) Goforth. Jonathan Goforth became the foremost missionary revivalist in early 20th-century China and helped to establish revivalism as a major element in Protestant China missions. Biography Goforth grew up on an Oxford County, Ontario, farm, the seventh of eleven children. As a young man he taught school in Thamesford, Ontario. Hearing fellow Oxford County native George Leslie Mackay, Presbyterian missionary to Taiwan, speak, he sensed a call from God to go to China. Randall Jordan Goforth (born January 27, 1994) is a former American football cornerback. He played college football at UCLA. College career As a freshman in 2012, Goforth played in all 14 games and started in five. He finished the year with 39 total tackles. Goforth came into his sophomore year in 2013 as a starter for the Bruins. He established totals in solo and total tackles and was the leader of the secondary, starting in all 13 games. Rosalind Goforth
Rosalind Goforth (6 May 1864 – 31 May 1942) was a British-born Canadian Presbyterian missionary and author. Born Florence Rosalind Bell-Smith near Kensington Gardens, London, England, she moved at the age of three with her parents to Montreal, Quebec. Her father, John Bell-Smith, was an artist, and she also intended to go into art. She graduated from the Toronto School of Art in May 1885, and began preparing to return to London that autumn with the intention of completing her art studies. Instead, however, she married Jonathan Goforth on 25 October 1887 at Knox Presbyterian Church, Toronto, Canada, and they both served their church in Manchuria and China. They had eleven children, five of whom died as babies or very young children. Susan Goforth is an American actress and producer. Her work includes stage roles in ''Guys and Dolls'', '' Me and My Girl'', ''Singin' in the Rain'', ''A Chorus Line'' and ''Follies''. William Goforth (December 26, 1766 - May 12, 1817) was an American politician and physician in Ohio and Louisiana. He administered the first smallpox vaccines and conferred the first medical degree in the frontier west, and was a delegate to write the first constitution of Louisiana.
