The Godavari River has its catchment area in seven states of India: Maharashtra, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Odisha. The number of dams constructed in Godavari basin is the highest among all the river basins in India. Kakatiya Canal
Kakatiya Canal is a major canal in the Telangana State in India. Its full name is SRSP Kakatiya Canal as the canal originates from the Sriram Sagar dam. It feeds North Telangana by passing through the region for irrigation and as well as drinking water for major cities. Kakatiya Canal is about 284 km long with 9,700 cusecs flow capacity and passing through Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam Districts. This canal is an inter river basin transfer link by feeding Godavari River water to Krishna river basin in Warangal and Khammam districts. 4 Units of 9 MW each to generate 36 MW have also been set up to harness the water head before feeding water into the canal. Polavaram Project
The ''Polavaram Project'' is an under construction multi-purpose irrigation project on the Godavari River in the Eluru District and East Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh. The project has been accorded National Project of India, National project status by the Government of India, Central Government of India. Its reservoir back water spreads up to the Dummugudem Lift Irrigation Scheme, Dummugudem Anicut (i.e. approx 150 km back from Polavaram dam on main river side) and approx 115 km on Sabari River side. Thus back water spreads into parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha States. It gives major boost to tourism sector in Godavari Districts as the reservoir covers the famous Papikonda National Park, Polavaram hydro electric project (HEP) and National Waterway 4 are under construction on left side of the river. Devadula Lift Irrigation Project
The J. Chokka Rao Devadula lift irrigation scheme is a lift irrigation scheme in India. It is the second biggest of its kind in Asia. Devadula is the place in Mulugu District, Telangana, where the scheme's intake well is located. The foundation stone for this scheme was laid by then Chief Minister of Combined State Shri. Nara Chandra Babu Naidu in the year 2001. The Project The project is specially designed to lift water from the River Godavari to irrigate more than in the drought-prone Telangana state, India. Babli
The Babli project / barrage is a controversial reservoir project being constructed by Maharashtra across the river Godavari, disputed by Telangana. The Supreme Court of India delivered a ruling after seven years in favour of Maharashtra with the Andhra Pradesh government expected to appeal against it. History The dispute arises from the fact that S.B. Chavan and Jalagam Vengal Rao reached an agreement in October 1975, which was later made part of the Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal (GWDT) Award. As per the terms of the pact, Maharashtra could utilise 60 tmcft (thousand million cubic feet) of Godavari water while Andhra Pradesh could go ahead with building the Sriram Sagar Project (SRSP) and utilise the rest of the water. Mid Manair Dam
Mid Manair Dam is a major irrigation project across the Manair River, at Manwada Village, Boinpalli Mandal, Rajanna Sircilla district, Telangana. It has a capacity of 25.87 tmcft with 25 radial gates. It has a capacity to irrigate 2,00,000 acres. It is part of the prestigious Kaleshwaram project from which 2-3 tmcft water will be lifted and router to Mid Manair Dam. The project was completed in April 2018. Shanigaram Reservoir
Shanigaram Reservoir (Telugu:) also known as Shanigaram Cheruvu is a medium irrigation project constructed across the Shanigaram River, at Shanigaram Village, Siddipet District, Telangana. This is one of the oldest reservoir constructed in 1891 under Nizam rule. Project construction cost was 560 seers (504 kg) of gold. As part of Sriram Sagar Stage-II work, this reservoir will be filled by lift canal from Thotapally Reservoir in which water carried from Mid Manair through MMD Right Canal. Singur Dam
Singur Dam also written as Singoor (సింగూర్ in Telugu) is an irrigation, hydroelectric and drinking water project located in Singooru village near Sangareddy district in Telangana, India. It is a major source of drinking water for Hyderabad city. The dam is built on the river Manjira. The construction was completed in 1998.
