"God Gave Rock and Roll to You" is a 1973 song by the British band Argent and covered by Kiss as "God Gave Rock 'N' Roll To You II" in 1991, with modified lyrics. Argent Argent recorded the song in 1971 during the sessions for their album '' All Together Now'', but it originally did not appear as an album track until 1973's '' In Deep'', and was released as a successful single at that time. The 1997 CD re-release of ''All Together Now'' has the track included as a bonus. The original lyrics include a reference to British pop singer Cliff Richard, known for his Christianity. Argent were an English rock band founded in 1969 by keyboardist Rod Argent, formerly of the Zombies. They had three UK top 40 singles: "Hold Your Head Up", which reached number five and spent 12 weeks on the chart, "Tragedy" (number 34), and "God Gave Rock and Roll to You" (number 18). Two of their albums charted in the UK: '' All Together Now'', which peaked at number 13 in 1972, and '' In Deep'', which spent one week at number 49 in 1973. ''Come and Join Us'' is the second studio album of the Christian rock band Petra. It was released in 1977. The album continues with a style similar to the one of their previous album, which is something between country and Southern rock. However, the music is more rock-oriented, and the lyrics show more depth. Also - like their previous album - there is no lead singer per se. Instead, the lead vocals are handled by guitarists Bob Hartman and Greg Hough, and some guest singers. One of the guest singers is Greg X. Volz who later became the band's full-time singer. Producing Bob Hartman wanted to title the album "God Gave Rock and Roll to You", after one of the songs. This song was written by Russ Ballard for his band Argent, and later became a rock music anthem, covered by other bands like KISS (1991) and Bride (1993). "Unholy" is a song by American hard rock band Kiss, written by Gene Simmons and Vinnie Vincent. Featured on their 1992 album, '' Revenge'', the song is one of the three Vincent co-writes to appear on the album despite the fact that he had been fired from the band 8 years earlier. "Rise to It" is a song by the American hard rock band Kiss, released on the band's fifteenth studio album, '' Hot in the Shade'' in 1989. It is the opening track on the album and was released as the third and final single on April 1, 1990. However, it only charted on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and Mainstream Rock Tracks. Robert Alan Ezrin (born March 25, 1949) is a Canadian music producer and keyboardist, best known for his work with Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Kiss, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, Andrea Bocelli and Phish.
