''God Exists, Her Name Is Petrunija'' ( mk, Господ постои, името ѝ е Петрунија, Gospod postoi, imeto ì e Petrunija), also spelt ''Petrunya'' in English translation, is a 2019 Macedonian drama film directed by Teona Strugar Mitevska. It tells the story of a woman who wins a local contest, but because its usually reserved for men she becomes ostracised for it. It was selected to compete for the Golden Bear award at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival, and won the LUX Prize and several other awards, as well as being nominated for others. Teona Strugar Mitevska
Teona (foaled 13 March 2018) is an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. She showed promise as a two-year-old in 2020 when she won the second of her two races by nine lengths. In the following spring she ran disappointingly in the Musidora Stakes and the Epsom Oaks but developed into a top-class middle distance performer, winning the August Stakes and the Prix Vermeille. Background Teona is a bay filly with a white stripe bred in Ireland by Rabbah Bloodstock. As a yearling in October 2019 she was consigned to the Tattersalls sales and was bought for 280,000 guineas by Hugo Merry Bloodstock. She entered the ownership of Ali Saeed, and was sent into training with Roger Varian at Newmarket, Suffolk. She was from the eighth crop of foals sired by Sea the Stars who won the 2000 Guineas, Epsom Derby and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 2009. The Golden Bear (german: Goldener Bär) is the highest prize awarded for the best film at the Berlin International Film Festival. The bear is the heraldic animal of Berlin, featured on both the coat of arms and flag of Berlin. History The winners of the first Berlin International Film Festival in 1951 were determined by a West German panel, with five winners of the Golden Bear, divided by categories and genres. Labina Mitevska ( mk, Лабина Митевска) (born 1975 in Skopje, Socialist Republic of Macedonia, Yugoslavia) is a Macedonian actress. Career Mitevska began her acting career aged 19 after studying in Skopje, Denmark, and the University of Arizona. She starred in Milčo Mančevski's 1994 Oscar-nominated film '' Before the Rain''. Mitevska went on to play the supporting role in ''Welcome To Sarajevo'', directed by Michael Winterbottom, and had the lead role in the Czech film ''Loners''.
