Gobler, Missouri
Gobler ( ) is an unincorporated community on the border between Dunklin and Pemiscot counties in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is located nineteen miles west-southwest of Caruthersville and seven miles southeast of Kennett. The community is on Missouri Route NN and the old St. Louis Southwestern Railway line which is now Dunklin County Road 710. It still has a post office open two hours a day, six days a week. Until a devastating fire in 1956, Gobler was the home of the Gobler Mercantile Company, a large general store established in 1937 that served the surrounding farming population. The community is in the Delta C-7 consolidated school district, headquartered six miles northeast at Deering. Deering, Missouri
Deering is an unincorporated community in Pemiscot County, Missouri, United States. It is located fifteen miles west of Caruthersville. Deering began as a lumber town in the early 1900s. The post office has been in operation since 1903. The community was named for William Deering, founder of the Deering Harvester Company, which in 1902 merged into the newly formed International Harvester Company. The company owned the land on which the community was established, and the land was later acquired by the Wisconsin Lumber Company. Kennett, Missouri
Kennett is a city in and the county seat of Dunklin County, Missouri, United States. The city is located in the southeast corner (or " Bootheel") of Missouri, east of Arkansas and from the Mississippi River. It has a population of 10,932 according to the 2010 Census. Kennett is the largest city in the Bootheel, a mostly agricultural area. History White settlers built log cabins in the area in the first half of the 19th century, naming their settlement Chilletecaux in honor of a Delaware Indian chief who lived there. The town was renamed Butler in the late 1840s.
