Gobela (Metro Bilbao)
Gobela is a station on line 1 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Itzubaltzeta-Romo, in the municipality of Getxo. The station opened as part of the metro on 24 June 1996, replacing an older station. It is located immediately to the west of Campo Municipal de Gobela, home of the football team Arenas Club de Getxo. History The station first opened to the public in 1893 as part of the Las Arenas-Plentzia railway, operated by the Las Arenas-Plencia Railway Company. At the time it was known as ''Gobelas'' station. At Las Arenas, in the municipality of Getxo, the line connected with the Bilbao-Las Arenas railway. Direct services between Bilbao and Gobela started in 1901. Starting in 1947, the narrow-gauge railway companies that operated within the Bilbao metropolitan area were merged to become ''Ferrocarriles y Transportes Suburbanos'', shortened FTS and the first precedent of today's Bilbao metro. Getxo
Getxo () is a town located in the province of Biscay, in the autonomous community of the Basque Country, in Spain. It is part of Greater Bilbao, and has 77,946 inhabitants (2019). Getxo is mostly an affluent residential area, as well as being the third largest municipality of Biscay. History Getxo (formerly spelt ''Guecho'') was a parish (''elizatea, ''anteiglesia'), originally a rural area, including a large beach at the mouth of the Estuary of Bilbao, centered on the little fishing village of Algorta. The parish council met at the church of ''Getxoko Andra Mari'' (Basque) or ''Santa María de Getxo'' (Spanish) (both mean Saint Mary of Getxo), not far from the headland called Punta Galea. The town's coat of arms has an oak with two cauldrons chained to its branches and the motto ''Kaltea Dagianak Bizarra Lepoan'' (Basque for "Who makes evil, the beard at the back"). Euskotren
Euskotren, formally known as Basque Railways ( eu, Eusko Trenbideak, es, Ferrocarriles Vascos), is a public railway company controlled by the Basque Government and officially established in 1982 to operate several narrow gauge railways inside the autonomous community of the Basque Country, under the terms of the Statute of Autonomy of the Basque Country. Originally operating under the commercial brand ''ET/FV'', it took control of the management and operations of the narrow gauge lines formerly operated by the railway company FEVE. Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport that transfers passengers and goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails, which are incorporated in tracks.
