The Goan Sports Association is the name of a club (later association) and sporting grounds founded in 1929 in Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay), India Location It is located at Cross Maidan at Dhobi Talao in Mumbai 400002, behind Fashion Street, in the central and downtown part of the city. History This association, earlier known as a club, had been established in 1929 to promote sports in the bustling megapolis and was the apex body of several sports associations. Football, being a popular sport in the "parent State of Goa", here too the club had been promoting this sport on the ground for the past four-and-half decades. This had meant "thousands of players, schools and colleges in Mumbai have benefited from using the playground", it was claimed by supporters of this group. Cross Maidan
Cross Maidan (formerly ''Parade Ground'' ) is a vast expanse of land in Mumbai. The term maidan means "playing ground" in Marathi. The ground measures 23,000 m². The name "Cross" is derived for the old stone Cross (crucifix) built when the city was under Portuguese rule in the 16th century. The maidan is under the jurisdiction of the district collector. In 2009 it was announced that a 30-foot tall steel sculpture inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's charkha would be installed at the maidan. In the same year, the government also announced that it would be laying a water tunnel from the Malabar Hill reservoir to Cross Maidan at the cost of Rs. 940 million. It is claimed that the South Mumbai locality will have adequate water supply once this water tunnel is completed. Dhobi Talao
Dhobitalao (धोबीतलाव, "Washerman's Lake") is a neighborhood in the city of Mumbai (formerly Bombay) in India. Located in the South Mumbai area at an elevation of 11 m (31 ft), it used to be a location where linen was washed. In British times, dhobis used to wash the British soldiers clothes' here. It was filled up in the mid-17th century as the city began to expand. The lake used to be fed by a number of underground freshwater springs, which were recently uncovered while constructing the subway in the locality. A public library stands over the land that was the lake. Just off the current site, is the famous Metro Adlabs (formerly Metro Cinema). The High Court of Bombay is the high court of the states of Maharashtra and Goa in India, and the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Mridula Bhatkar
Mridula Bhatkar (born 28 May 1957) is a former judge of the Bombay High Court, in Maharashtra, India, serving on the court between 2009 and 2019. She adjudicated in several notable cases during her tenure as a judge, including the Jalgaon rape case, the 2006 Mumbai train bombings, and the conviction of Gujarat police officers and doctors in the 2002 gangrape of Bilkis Bano. Career Bhatkar enrolled with the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa in 1982 and practiced law in Pune, Maharashtra.
