Goa Cricket Association
Goa Cricket Association is the governing body of Cricket activities in the Indian state of Goa and the Goa cricket team. It is affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Suraj Lotlikar is the president of the association. GCA is registered with Registrar of Societies, Goa. As a member of BCCI, it has the authority to select players, umpires and officials to participate in state events and exercises total control over them in Goa. Without its recognition, no competitive cricket involving GCA-contracted players can be hosted within the State of Goa and India. It owns a ground at Porvorim. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Board Of Control For Cricket In India
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India. Its headquarters are situated at Cricket centre, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The BCCI is the richest governing body of cricket in the world and is part of the ''Big Three'' of international cricket, along with Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board. The Goa Cricket Association Academy Ground, formerly known as the District Institute of Education and Training Ground, is a cricket ground in Porvorim Porvorim (pronounced ''Parvari '' ), is the ''De facto'' legislative and executive capital of the state of Goa, India, as both the Goa Legislative Assembly and Secretariat are functioning from the same complex in the region of Alto Porvorim in ..., Goa, India. The first recorded match held on the ground came in November 2008 when Goa Under-16s played Kerala Under-16s.
