Gmina Komańcza
__NOTOC__ Gmina Komańcza is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Sanok County, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, in south-eastern Poland, on the Slovak border. Its seat is the village of Komańcza, which lies approximately south-west of Sanok and south of the regional capital Rzeszów. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2006 its total population is 5,116. Ethnically the region's inhabitants include Poles, Pogorzans and Lemkos. The gmina contains part of the protected area called Cisna-Wetlina Landscape Park. The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' , from German ''Gemeinde'' meaning ''commune'') is the principal unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,477 gminas throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminas include cities and towns, with 302 among them constituting an independent urban gmina ( pl, gmina miejska) consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta''). The gmina has been the basic unit of territorial division in Poland since 1974, when it replaced the smaller gromada (cluster). Nowy Łupków
Nowy Łupków ( uk, Новий Лупків, ''Novyi Lupkiv'') is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Komańcza, within Sanok County, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, in south-eastern Poland, close to the border with Slovakia. It lies approximately south of Komańcza, south of Sanok, and south of the regional capital Rzeszów. The village has a population of 390. The village emerged when the local railway station was built in 1872, along the line from Zagórz to then- Hungarian-owned Slovakia (First Hungarian-Galician Railway, ''Erste Ungarisch-Galizische Eisenbahn''). At first, its inhabitants were mostly working on the railways. Currently, it is the southernmost railroad station in Poland, and a rail border crossing with Slovakia. In 1890-1898 the village was also linked with narrow-gauge Bieszczadzka Forest Railway. Moszczaniec
Moszczaniec ( uk, Мощанець, ''Moshchanets’'') is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Komańcza, within Sanok County, in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship (province) of south-eastern Poland, close to the border with Slovakia. It lies about west of Wisłok Wielki along the main road, south-west of Sanok, and south of the regional capital Rzeszów. The village has a population of 250. Since the late 1950s Moszczaniec has witnessed the construction of a large penal colony, with room for up to about 500 prisoners. Warders and other ancillary staff, including officials of the State Farm on which most of the prisoners work, are accommodated on a new housing estate in four-storeyed blocks of flats. It is a sort of garrison settlement, provisioned directly form Komancza, without a shop, a school, or public institutions on any kind. Kulaszne ( uk, Куляшне, ''Kuliashne'') is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Komańcza, within Sanok County, in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship (province) of south-eastern Poland, close to the border with Slovakia. It lies approximately north-east of Komańcza, south of Sanok, and south of the regional capital Rzeszów. The village has a population of 220. The Kulaszne church was built in 1912 as a Greek Catholic - cerkiew. It burned down in 1974 and a Roman Catholic church was built over the foundation. In 2004, the building reverted to Greek Catholic, so it is now, once again - a cerkiew.
