__NOTOC__ Gmina Czarnocin is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Kazimierza County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in south-central Poland. Its seat is the village of Czarnocin, which lies approximately north of Kazimierza Wielka and south of the regional capital Kielce. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2006 its total population is 4,176. The gmina contains part of the protected area called Kozubów Landscape Park. The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' , from German ''Gemeinde'' meaning ''commune'') is the principal unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,477 gminas throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminas include cities and towns, with 302 among them constituting an independent urban gmina ( pl, gmina miejska) consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta''). Stradów, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship
Stradów is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Czarnocin, within Kazimierza County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in south-central Poland. It lies in historic Lesser Poland, approximately north-west of Czarnocin, north of Kazimierza Wielka, and south of the regional capital Kielce. History In the Middle Ages, a large Slavic gord was located here. Altogether, the complex covered the area of some 25 hectares, and was among the largest of early Poland. The gord probably existed from the 8th to the 12th century, and was placed among hills, which provided defensive cover. Archaeologists found here traces of wooden houses, furnaces, and fortifications. The gord had the population of several hundred, it probably was an important administrative center of the region. Most likely, it belonged to the state of the Vistulans, and some time in the late 10th century, Stradów was seized by another Slavic tribe, the Polans.
