Glyph (Floater Album)
''Glyph'' is the second studio album by American rock band Floater, released in May 1995. The album was engineered and mixed by the Grammy-nominated Drew Canulette (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Neil Young). ''Glyph'' received a preliminary Grammy nomination in the category of Best Alternative Performance. The album was initially intended to be an EP featuring leftover songs that never made it onto the ''Sink'' album. Some of the tracks, such as "The Sad Ballad of Danny Boy", "The Face of Order", and "Dead", were previously recorded on the ''Sink'' demo tape prior to the release of the ''Sink'' album. Later, though, additional tracks were added, blending the entire album into one complete, seamless audio experience. "The Sad Ballad of Danny Boy" received national radio play on Z Rock stations. Floater (band)
Floater is an American Rock music, rock Musical ensemble, band currently based in Portland, Oregon. The band was started in 1993 by Robert Wynia, along with Peter Cornett and David Amador. They are known for their progressive concept albums, stylized storytelling, intense live performances, and devoted fanbase. Floater routinely sells out local venues in Oregon and periodically plays shows in the neighboring states of Washington (state), Washington, California, Nevada, and Idaho. Floater has played a variety of venues, including CBGB in New York and the Roxy Theatre (West Hollywood), Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles. Nirvana (band)
Nirvana was an American rock band formed in Aberdeen, Washington, in 1987. Soundgarden
Soundgarden was an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984 by singer and drummer Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil (both of whom are the only members to appear in every incarnation of the band), and bassist Hiro Yamamoto; Cornell switched to rhythm guitar in 1985, replaced on drums initially by Scott Sundquist, and later by Matt Cameron in 1986. Yamamoto left in 1990 and was replaced initially by Jason Everman and shortly thereafter by Ben Shepherd. The band dissolved in 1997 and re-formed in 2010. Z Rock was a nationally syndicated radio network based in Dallas, Texas, United States that, from the mid-1980s through the mid-1990s, played heavy metal and hard rock music. The format was one of several 24-hour satellite-delivered music formats offered by the pioneering Satellite Music Network (a company which in 1989 merged with ABC Radio Networks and later became Cumulus Media Networks).
