Gloria Warren
Gloria Warren ( Weiman; April 7, 1926 – September 11, 2021) was an American actress, soprano singer, and philanthropist. Early years Warren was born Gloria Weiman on April 7, 1926, in Wilmington, Delaware. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Weiman, were from Eastern Europe (her mother was from Budapest, Hungary). Her father was a jeweler. When she changed her last name to Warren, the rest of her family had their last names changed to Warren, too. She started playing the piano at age eight, and was considered a prodigy by the time she was nine years old. She attended Warner Junior High School. Career Warren was discovered around 1940, when a radio producer saw her showcase her musical talent, including singing and dancing. ''Dangerous Money'', also known as ''Hot Money'', is a 1946 American film directed by Terry O. Morse, featuring Sidney Toler as Charlie Chan. This is the second and last appearance of Willie Best as Chattanooga Brown, the cousin of Charlie Chan's usual chauffeur, Birmingham Brown (Mantan Moreland). Plot Aboard an ocean liner in the South Pacific, United States Department of the Treasury, US Treasury agent Scott Pearson confidentially asks Charlie Chan for help; two attempts have been made on his life. Chan rescues him from a third, but not the fourth (a knife in the back). Edna Mae Durbin (December 4, 1921 – April 17, 2013), known professionally as Deanna Durbin, was a Canadian-born actress and singer, who moved to the USA with her family in infancy. She appeared in musical films in the 1930s and 1940s. With the technical skill and vocal range of a legitimate lyric soprano, she performed many styles from popular standards to operatic arias. Durbin was a child actress who made her first film appearance with Judy Garland in '' Every Sunday'' (1936), and subsequently signed a contract with Universal Studios.
