Glen Roy
Glen Roy ( gd, Gleann Ruaidh, meaning "red glen") in the Lochaber area of the Highlands of Scotland is a glen noted for the geological phenomenon of three loch terraces known as the Parallel Roads of Glen Roy. The terraces formed along the shorelines of an ancient ice-dammed loch that existed during a brief period (some 900–1,100 years in duration) of climatic deterioration, during a much longer period of deglaciation, subsequent to the last main ice age (the Devensian). From a distance they resemble man-made roads running along the side of the glen, hence the name. Much of the glen is designated as a national nature reserve. Glen Roy runs north from Glen Spean which takes the main A86 trunk road and the railway of the West Highland Line, both running about a further southwest via Spean Bridge to Fort William. Glenroy is a suburb of the city of Albury, New South Wales, located northwest of the Albury Central Business District and west of Lavington. At the 2006 census, Glenroy had a population of 2659, although the area covered in the Census is considerably different from the actual area of the suburb. Glenroy covers the northern slopes of Nail Can Hill on the Murray River floodplain, and is bordered by North Albury to the east, Hamilton Valley and Lavington to the north, Splitters Creek to the west and West Albury to the south. Glenroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club located 14 km north of Melbourne in the suburb of Glenroy. The club was founded in 1946 and affiliated with the Essendon District Football League. The club fields open age and junior teams. Glenroy are known as the Wallabies and wear a red jumper with a white sash. The club enjoys strong community support from a range of small businesses and institutions. Their last B-Grade premiership in 2008 resulted in their promotion to A-Grade under former premiership player Ash Manning. Due to a mass exodus of player personnel, Glenroy's young list struggled to match it with the hardened quality opposition in 2009. Glenroy Specialist School (GSS) provides education for students with physical disabilities from prep to year 12 in the northern region of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. History GSS was officially opened on 17 February 1976 in Box Forest Road Glenroy. The school was purpose built on ten acres of land, with three acres being under roof. The building consists of 22 classrooms, two gymnasiums, swimming pool, a large hall, and several areas catering for the physical therapy of the students.
