A historic district or heritage district is a section of a city which contains older buildings considered valuable for historical or architectural reasons. In some countries or jurisdictions, historic districts receive legal protection from certain types of development. Historic districts may or may not also be the center of the city. They may be coterminous with the commercial district, administrative district, or arts district, or separate from all of these. Cambridge ( ) is a College town, university city and the county town in Cambridgeshire, England. It is located on the River Cam approximately north of London. Reevesland
Reevesland (Reeves Farmhouse or Torreyson Farm) is the remnant of an estate that was once located in the present List of neighborhoods in Arlington County, Virginia, Boulevard Manor neighborhood of Arlington County, Virginia. The former estate, located at 400 N. Manchester Street in the western part of the county, now consists of of land with a house and outbuildings that were originally part of a dairy farm. History Reevesland has the distinction of being the last operating dairy farm in Arlington. The 160-acre farm remained in the same family for three generations and it represents an important era in Arlington’s history, when the area was transformed from a sleepy, rural community into the thriving suburban/urban county it is today. Reevesland was the name given to the farm and dairy operation by George Reeves. Originally known as the Torreyson Farm, the land was purchased in 1863 by William H. Glebe House (Arlington, Virginia)
The Glebe House, built in 1854–1857, is a octagon house, historic house with an octagon-shaped wing in Arlington County, Virginia. The Northern Virginia Conservation Trust holds a conservation easement to help protect and preserve it. The name of the house comes from the property's history as a glebe, an area of land within an ecclesiastical parish used to support a parish priest. In this case, the glebe was established by the Church of England before the American Revolutionary War. George Crossman House
George Crossman House is an historic home located in the East Falls Church, Virginia, East Falls Church section of Arlington, Virginia. It was built in 1892 by George Grant Crossman for his bride Mary Ellen (Nellie) Dodge of Lewinsville, VA.Arlington Historical Magazine, October 2001 They married on April 7, 1892. The house was once part of a dairy farm in what was then rural Northern Virginia. The Crossman Farm's dairy products were sold to local neighbors as well as to the Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers Association. The Crossman's son William helped operate the farm and later assumed ownership and management of the house and dairy operation, which was one of the last dairy farms in Arlington County. The house is located in the East Falls Church neighborhood of Arlington County, which was part of the City of Falls Church until 1936.
