Glenella, Manitoba
Glenella is a community within the Municipality of Glenella – Lansdowne. It is located northeast of Neepawa and was designated a post office and a CNR point in 1897. The Municipality of Glenella – Lansdowne is a rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Manitoba. History It was incorporated on January 1, 2015 via the amalgamation of the RMs of Glenella and Lansdowne. It was formed as a requirement of ''The Municipal Amalgamations Act'', which required that municipalities with a population less than 1,000 amalgamate with one or more neighbouring municipalities by 2015. The Government of Manitoba initiated these amalgamations in order for municipalities to meet the 1997 minimum population requirement of 1,000 to incorporate a municipality. Neepawa is a town in Manitoba, Canada located on the Yellowhead Highway at the intersection with Highway 5. its population was 5,685. Neepawa was incorporated as a town in 1883. It is bordered by the Municipality of North Cypress – Langford and Rural Municipality of Rosedale. Neepawa is the self-proclaimed Lily capital of the world in part because of its Lily Festival. History In the many years before European settlement, the lands around Neepawa were primarily used by the Cree and the Assiniboine. Stephen Patrick
Stephen Clifford Patrick (''né'' Patrebka, March 24, 1932 – January 11, 2014) was a Canadian politician and athlete. Patrick was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1962 to 1977. Career Patrick played with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers football team for thirteen years. He became President and General-Manager of Patrick Agencies Ltd. (now known as Patrick Realty Ltd.), and was a Director of the Winnipeg Real Estate Bld. and the Pioneer Fraternal Association. He was first elected to the Manitoba legislature in the provincial election of 1962, defeating incumbent Progressive Conservative George Johnson by 239 votes in the west-end Winnipeg riding of Assiniboia. He was re-elected by a greater margin in the 1966 election, but retained his seat by only 26 votes over Tory Bill Docking in the 1969 election. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are a professional Canadian football team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Blue Bombers compete in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member club of the league's West division. They play their home games at IG Field. The Blue Bombers were founded in 1930 as the Winnipeg Rugby Football Club, later changed to the Winnipeg Football Club, which is the organization's legal name.
