Glencoe Station
Glencoe Station is an Australian pastoral lease that operates as a sheep station and more recently as a cattle station. It is located about south of Cunnamulla and north east of Hungerford in Queensland. The property is located on the floodplain of the Warrego River. The station was sold in 1909 by Mr Barney Smith to Mr Moore of New South Wales together with all stock and plant. The station was "burnt to the ground" in 1934 causing between £1000 and £2000 damage. The owner, Ross MacDonald, and his wife were away at the time and no one was hurt in the fire. The station was running sheep and owned by a Mr. Beels in 1948. The property is prone to flooding whenever the Warrego catchment is inundated. The most recent flooding events have been in 1990, 1997 and 2008. In 2008 the property was owned by Hugh Miller who had trouble moving stock in the 2008 flood following early rains that softened the ground. Cunnamulla () is a town and a locality in the Shire of Paroo, Queensland, Australia. It is south of Charleville, and approximately west of the state capital, Brisbane. In the , Cunnamulla had a population of 1,140 people. Geography Cunnamulla lies on the Warrego River in South West Queensland within the Murray-Darling drainage basin. It flows from the north (Coongoola) through the town, which is in the centre of the locality, and exits to the south ( Tuen). The Mitchell Highway passes through the locality from north (Coongoola) to south (Tuen), while the Balonne Highway enters the location from the east ( Linden). Hungerford is an outback town in the Shire of Bulloo and a locality in the Shire of Bulloo and Shire of Paroo, South West Queensland, Australia. In the , Hungerford had a population of 23 people. ''The Northern Miner'' is an online newspaper published in Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia. History ''The Northern Miner'' was first established in 1872 by James Smith Reid. Reid established the paper only eight months after the discovery of gold in the regional Queensland town Charters Towers. In 1876 Reid sold the paper to Thadeus O'Kane. As the owner and editor of the Northern Miner, O’Kane devoted himself and the paper to improving the lives of the miners working in Charters Towers. Of the five newspapers published in the goldfields ''The Northern Miner'' was the only one to survive the downturn in gold mining.
