Glen M. Leonard
Glen Milton Leonard (born 1938) is an American historian specializing in Mormon history. Background Leonard is a native of Farmington, Utah. He received his Ph.D. in history from the University of Utah. For a time he was managing editor of ''Utah Historical Quarterly''. He has taught at both Brigham Young University and Utah State University. Leonard has been the director of the Museum of Church History and Art in Salt Lake City since it opened in 1984. Leonard and his wife Karen had three sons. They live in Farmington, Utah. Among other callings in the LDS Church, Leonard has served as Seventy (LDS Church)#Expanding membership, seventies quorum president, Bishop (Latter Day Saints), bishop and Stake Presidency, counselor in a stake presidency. He later served as president of the Farmington Utah North Stake. Published work Leonard has authored and co-authored several books on Mormon history. The University of Utah (U of U, UofU, or simply The U) is a public research university in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the flagship institution of the Utah System of Higher Education. The university was established in 1850 as the University of Deseret () by the General Assembly of the provisional State of Deseret, making it Utah's oldest institution of higher education. It received its current name in 1892, four years before Utah attained statehood, and moved to its current location in 1900. Historians devoted to the history of the Latter Day Saint movement may be members of a Latter Day Saint faith or non-members with an academic interest.
