Glen Aulin
Glen Aulin is a segment of the Tuolumne River valley, upriver from the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne. Glen Aulin is home to the Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp. Grand Canyon Of The Tuolumne
The Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne is the notable canyon section of the river valley of the Tuolumne River, located within Yosemite National Park, in Tuolumne County and the Sierra Nevada, California. As defined by the United States Geological Survey, the canyon begins at Glen Aulin and ends directly above Hetch Hetchy Valley. Geography The Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne starts at Glen Aulin, immediately below the confluence of Cold Canyon, Conness Creek, and the Tuolumne River. Here, the valley walls pull away from each other and become steeper. The water meanders and forms deep pools. After the waterfall that marks the end of Glen Aulin, the canyon becomes deeper again, and roughly "V"-shaped in cross-section. The walls are not as steep and bare as those of Yosemite Valley. Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp
The High Sierra Camps are nine rustic lodging facilities located in two national parks and a national monument in California's Sierra Nevada mountain range. Open most years from June or July to September, they are staffed camps with tent cabins and food service facilities. The backcountry camps receive their supplies by pack mules. Seven camps are located in Yosemite National Park. Five of these camps are located off the road in the wilderness, and are accessible only by hiking or by horseback riding. There are two similar camps which can be reached by automobile, located near the Tioga Road. Six of the camps are arranged along a loop trail long, and each camp can be reached in sequence in a one-day hike from the previous camp.
