Glasgow Citybus
Glasgow Citybus is a bus company operating services across Glasgow and Dunbartonshire. It is a subsidiary of West Coast Motors. History Glasgow Citybus was formed in November 1999, by Russell Arden. The company was acquired by Campbeltown-based West Coast Motors in January 2006. Under the ownership of West Coast Motors, the company went on to acquire Glasgow's City Sightseeing franchise in January 2008, John Morrow Coaches of Clydebank in March 2012, and Fairline Coaches in November 2013. Between February and May 2012, Glasgow Citybus received an order of fifteen brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 vehicles – at a cost of £1.8 million. This investment saw the average age of the fleet, at the time, reduced to just two years old. The Optare Solo is a low-floor minibus/midibus with one or two doors manufactured by Optare in the United Kingdom since 1998. The Solo name is a play on its low-floor status, the manufacturer marketing its vehicle as having an entrance that is "so low" from the floor, namely with kneeling suspension. In January 2012 Optare announced the end of production for the original Solo design with a modified Solo SR taking over. City Sightseeing is an open-top, sightseeing tour bus operator. It provides tour bus services in more than 130 cities around the world. As City Sightseeing has grown and expanded, the company now also provides boat tours, sightseeing train tours, and guided walking tours. The Alexander Dennis Enviro200 (previously known as the TransBus Enviro200) is a midibus that was manufactured by TransBus International and later Alexander Dennis between 2003 and 2018. The original TransBus Enviro200 design was innovative but ultimately unsuccessful, with few being sold before the introduction of the second generation Enviro200 (originally referred to as the Enviro200 Dart) revived sales for the product from 2006. It was supposed to be positioned in between a minibus and a rigid single-decker bus. The Enviro200 was originally designed to be the replacement for the Dennis Dart SLF chassis and Alexander ALX200 and Plaxton Pointer 2 bodies.
