Scots ( endonym: ''Scots''; gd, Albais, ) is an Anglic language variety in the West Germanic language family, spoken in Scotland and parts of Ulster in the north of Ireland (where the local dialect is known as Ulster Scots). Most commonly spoken in the Scottish Lowlands, Northern Isles and northern Ulster, it is sometimes called Lowland Scots or Broad Scots to distinguish it from Scottish Gaelic, the Goidelic Celtic language that was historically restricted to most of the Scottish Highlands, the Hebrides and Galloway after the 16th century. Jorge David Glas Espinel (; born 13 September 1969) is an Ecuadorian politician and electrical engineer. He served as Vice President of Ecuador from 24 May 2013 to 13 December 2017. President Lenín Moreno suspended Glas of his official duties as Vice President on 3 August 2017. In December 2017, Glas was sentenced to six years imprisonment by a Criminal Tribunal of the National Court of Justice, for receiving over $13.5 million in bribes in the Odebrecht scandal. Eochaid Faebar Glas, son of Conmáel, was, according to medieval Irish legend and historical tradition, a High King of Ireland. His epithet means "blue-green sharp edge". According to the ''Lebor Gabála Érenn'', Geoffrey Keating's ''Foras Feasa ar Éirinn'' and the ''Annals of the Four Masters'', he came to power after killing the joint High King, Cermna Finn, in battle at Dún Cermna (Downmacpatrick in Kinsale, County Cork), and Cermna's brother and colleague Sobairce was killed by Eochaid Menn of the Fomorians (another version of the ''Lebor Gabála'' says he came to power at the end of a seven-year interregnum following the death of Tigernmas). An Giolla Glas Ó Caiside ( fl. 1515–27) was a Gaelic-Irish physician and scribe. Ó Caiside was a member of a brehon family based in County Fermanagh, In the second and third decades of the 16th century, he compiled a manuscript containing "scientific commentary on a wide range of topics including medicine, philosophy, astronomy and botany." Such manuscripts would have created for the use of the family and their colleges, often copied by physicians in other parts of Ireland. A number, such as Liber Flavus Fergusiorum, became family heirlooms over the centuries. The Glasites or Glassites were a small Christian church founded in about 1730 in Scotland by John Glas.John Glas preached supremacy of God's word (Bible) over allegiance to Church and state to his congregation in Tealing near Dundee in July 1725. Glas continued to preach his vision over the next five years. The General Assembly's response to Glas's publication of ''Testimony of the king of martyrs concerning his kingdom'' (1727) was to depose him in October 1728. Synopsis The novel is about Dr. Tyko Gabriel Glas who is a respected physician in Stockholm. The story is told in the form of a diary and follows Doctor Glas as he struggles with depression. The antagonist is Reverend Gregorius, a morally corrupt clergyman. Gregorius' beautiful young wife confides in Dr. Glas that her sex life is making her miserable and asks for his help. He attempts to intervene, but the Reverend refuses to give up his "marital rights" — she must have sex with him whether she likes it or not. Stéphane Glas (born 12 November 1973 in Bourgoin-Jallieu, Isère, Dauphiné) is a French rugby union footballer. He currently plays for Stade Francais Paris in the top level of French rugby, the Top 14 competition. He previously played for Bourgoin. He has also represented France 37 times between 1996 and 2001.
