Glanamman (electoral Ward)
Glanamman is the name of an electoral ward for Carmarthenshire County Council, in the Amman Valley, Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is represented by one county councillor. Description The Glanamman county ward covers the Cwmamman community wards of Grenig and Tircoed, which include the areas north and south of the village of Glanamman. The eastern half of Cwmamman is covered by the Garnant ward. The population of Glanamman ward at the 2011 census was 2,347. A 2019 boundary review by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Wales recommended ward boundaries remain the same, but the name of the ward be changed from Glanamman to Glanaman, the standard Welsh spelling. The change was to take effect from the May 2022 local elections. However, the county council and news outlets continued to use the name Glanamman when reporting the 2022 Carmarthenshire County Council election. Ward (politics)
A ward is a local authority area, typically used for electoral purposes. In some countries, wards are usually named after neighbourhoods, thoroughfares, parishes, landmarks, geographical features and in some cases historical figures connected to the area (e.g. William Morris Ward in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, England). It is common in the United States for wards to simply be numbered. Dinefwr Borough Council
Dinefwr was one of six local government districts of the county of Dyfed, Wales from 1974 to 1996. It was named after Dinefwr Castle which in the middle ages had been the court of the House of Dinefwr and one of the three principal royal courts of Wales with Aberffraw and Shrewsbury. 2017 Carmarthenshire County Council Election
The sixth election to Carmarthenshire County Council was held on 4 May 2017 as part of wider local elections across Wales. The election was preceded by the 2012 election. It will be followed by the 2022 election Plaid Cymru narrowly missed out in forming the first majority administration in Carmarthenshire Council's history, despite gaining eight seats in the election. The Labour Party maintained its position from the 2012-2017 term, with the Independents losing many seats in the rural areas of Carmarthenshire to Plaid Cymru. Dyfed County Council
Dyfed County Council ( cy, Cyngor Sir Dyfed) was the county council of the non-metropolitan county of Dyfed in south west Wales. It operated between 1974 and 1996. The county council was based at County Hall, Carmarthen. History Dyfed County Council was created on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972. It took over the functions of the three previous county councils which had covered the area: Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire, and Pembrokeshire. Dyfed County Council was abolished under the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994, being replaced on 1 April 1996 by three unitary authorities: Carmarthenshire County Council, Ceredigion County Council, and Pembrokeshire County Council.
