Glan (Nahe)
The Glan () is a river in southwestern Germany, right tributary of the Nahe. It is approximately long. It rises in the Saarland, northwest of Homburg. It flows generally north, through Rhineland-Palatinate, and empties into the Nahe near Odernheim am Glan, at Staudernheim, across the Nahe from Bad Sobernheim. Other towns along the Glan are Altenglan, Glan-Münchweiler, Lauterecken and Meisenheim. Etymology The Celtic root of the name comes either from ''glann'' (shining) or from '' glen'' (U-shaped valley). Glan, Sarangani
Glan, officially the Municipality of Glan ( ceb, Lungsod sa Glan; tl, Bayan ng Glan; mdh, Inged nu Glan), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Sarangani, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 109,547 people. Glan is located east of Sarangani Bay, west of Davao Occidental, and north of the Celebes Sea. It is largely based on agriculture with a high level production of copra. Aquaculture is the second biggest income earner, notably milkfish and shrimps culture. Other agricultural products are coconuts, maize, sugarcane, bananas, pineapples, mangoes, pork, eggs, beef, and fish. The economy accelerated in 2010s due to advances in global communication technology and the finishing of a modern highway, which improved trade and transport. The Glan (; sl, Glina) is a river in Carinthia, Austria, a right tributary of the Gurk. It is long. Its drainage basin is . It rises north of the Wörthersee in the Ossiach Tauern, then running through Feldkirchen, going northeastwards passing the castle Burgruine Glanegg until it reaches Sankt Veit where it bends sharply towards south. It flows through the Zollfeld Valley, the historical heart of the Carinthian duchy, and through Klagenfurt, the state capital. At Ebenthal southeast of Klagenfurt is the confluence with the Glanfurt River, the Glan bends eastwards and finally flows into the river Gurk. Pentti Glan
Pentti "Whitey" Glan (July 8, 1946 – November 7, 2017) was a Finnish-Canadian rock drummer, best known for his work with Alice Cooper and Lou Reed. Musical career Glan's first serious band was the Canadian soul band The Rogues (later called Mandala) which he formed with keyboardist Josef Chirowski and bassist Don Elliot; they had worked together in other bands like Whitey & The Roulettes (which also featured guitarist Mike McKenna). Mandala had their first hit single with "Opportunity" with original singer George Olliver, recorded at Chess Records. In 1966 Glan played several shows with Mandala in Ontario and recorded the first two demo songs of his career ("I Can't Hold Out No Longer" and "I'll Make It Up To You"). Roy Kenner had replaced George Olliver. When they played their first shows in the USA they performed at the Whisky a Go Go. They recorded their only album ''Soul Crusade'' in 1968 which produced a hit single ("Loveitis") but they disbanded in 1969 after several ... Glan Valley Railway
The Glan Valley Railway (german: Glantalbahn) is a non-electrified line along the Glan river, in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It consists of the Glan-Münchweiler–Altenglan section, which was built as part of the Landstuhl–Kusel railway and sections that were built later for military reasons: Homburg–Glan-Münchweiler, Altenglan– Staudernheim and Odernheim– Bad Münster am Stein. The line had strategic importance, otherwise traffic was rather low, except on the Glan Munchweiler–Altenglan section. The line runs right next to the river for 60 km of its 85 km length from Homburg to Bad Münster. The line is closed, except for the ten km section from Glan-Münchweiler to Altenglan that forms part of the Landstuhl–Kusel line.
