Gjeravica
Gjeravica or Đeravica ( sq, Gjeravica; sr-cyr, Ђеравица) is the second-highest mountain peak in the Accursed Mountains mountain range and the Dinaric Alps chain, after Maja Jezercë. It is the second-highest mountain in Kosovo,. It has an elevation of above sea level. Gjeravica is in the western part of Kosovo, in the municipality of Junik. Before the 20th century, Gjeravica used to be called Kaluđerovica (''Kaluđer'' means monk in Serbian), because of the Serbian Orthodox Monastery of Peć at the gateway to the mountains. Features Gjeravica is somewhat different from the rest of the Accursed mountains in its lack of the stony, limestone texture the other mountains in Accursed Mountains have. Accursed Mountains
The Accursed Mountains ( sq, Bjeshkët e Nemuna; sh-Cyrl-Latn, Проклетије, Prokletije, ; both translated as "Cursed Mountains"), also known as the Albanian Alps ( sq, Alpet Shqiptare), are a mountain group in the western part of the Balkans. It is the southernmost subrange of the Dinaric Alps range (Dinarides), extending from northern Albania to southern Kosovo and northeastern Montenegro. Erenik
The Erenik; Serbian Cyrillic: Ереник / Рибник) or Ribnik is a river in Kosovo. Located in the west of the country, it measures -long, a right tributary to the White Drin. The Erenik originates near the Albanian border, in the northern slopes of the Junik Mountains, a part of the Accursed Mountains, under the Gjeravica peak (), the List of mountains in Kosovo, highest mountain in Kosovo. The river flows to the south and south-east, following the eastern edge of the Accursed Mountains, dividing them from the western region. Glacial Lake
A glacial lake is a body of water with origins from glacier activity. They are formed when a glacier erodes the land and then melts, filling the depression created by the glacier. Formation Near the end of the last glacial period, roughly 10,000 years ago, glaciers began to retreat. A retreating glacier often left behind large deposits of ice in hollows between drumlins or hills. As the ice age ended, these melted to create lakes. This is apparent in the Lake District in Northwestern England where post-glacial sediments are normally between 4 and 6 metres deep. These lakes are often surrounded by drumlins, along with other evidence of the glacier such as moraines, eskers and erosional features such as striations and chatter marks.
