Gjemnes (village)
Gjemnes is a village in Gjemnes Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The village is located on the southern part of a small peninsula surrounded by the Kvernesfjorden to the north and the Batnfjorden to the south. The village sits along the European route E39 at the western end of the Gjemnessund Bridge (which is part of the network of bridges and tunnels that connect the town of Kristiansund to the mainland. The municipal centre of Batnfjordsøra lies about to the southwest, at the end of the fjord. Gjemnes municipality is named after this village because that is where Gjemnes Church is located, and it is the main church for the municipality and parish. Reinsfjellet is a mountain in Gjemnes Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The tall mountain is the third tallest mountain in the municipality. Gjemnes Church
Gjemnes Church ( no, Gjemnes kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Gjemnes Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Gjemnes, along the Batnfjorden. It is the church for the Gjemnes parish which is part of the Indre Nordmøre prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1893 by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 310 people. History The municipality and parish of Gjemnes was established in 1893, and that is also when the first church here was built. The church was designed by Jacob Wilhelm Nordan and it was one of his last since he died in 1892 and the plans he draw were not actually used until 1893 when the church was built. Gjemnessund Bridge
The Gjemnessund Bridge ( no, Gjemnessundbrua) is a suspension bridge that crosses the Gjemnessundet strait between the mainland and the island of Bergsøya in the municipality of Gjemnes in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The bridge was the longest suspension bridge in Norway until the opening of the Hardanger Bridge in 2013, although it did not have the longest span (), being eclipsed by the Askøy Bridge. Gjemnessund Bridge was opened in 1992, and has 21 spans with a maximum clearance to the sea of .
