Giuseppe Maria Martelli (1678 – 1741) was an Italian Roman Catholic archbishop of Florence from 1722 to 1740. Biography He was born to the aristocratic Martelli family. He rose rapidly in ecclesiastical rank, becoming prior of San Lorenzo and synod examiner for the dioceses of Florence and Fiesolo. He surpervised a synod of the diocese in 1732. In Florence, he helped refurbish the Palazzo Arcivescovile and the church of San Salvatore al Vescovo San Salvatore al Vescovo is a church located in Florence, Italy. San Lorenzo, Florence
The Basilica di San Lorenzo (Basilica of St. Lawrence) is one of the largest churches of Florence, Italy, situated at the centre of the main market district of the city, and it is the burial place of all the principal members of the Medici family from Cosimo il Vecchio to Cosimo III. It is one of several churches that claim to be the oldest in Florence, having been consecrated in 393 AD, at which time it stood outside the city walls. For three hundred years it was the city's cathedral, before the official seat of the bishop was transferred to Santa Reparata. San Lorenzo was the parish church of the Medici family. San Michele E Gaetano
San Gaetano, also known as Santi Michele e Gaetano, is a Baroque church in Florence, Italy, located on the Piazza Antinori, entrusted to the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. History A Romanesque church, dedicated solely to '' Saint Michael the Archangel'', had been located at the site for centuries prior to its Baroque reconstruction. Patronized by the Theatine order, the new church was dedicated to Saint Cajetan, one of the founders of the order, though the church could not formally be named after him until his canonisation in 1671. Funding for this reconstruction was obtained from the noble families in Florence, including the Medicis. Cardinal Carlo de' Medici was particularly concerned with the work, and his name is inscribed on the façade. Building took place between 1604 and 1648.
