Giuseppe Garibaldi (composer)
Giuseppe Garibaldi (1819 – 25 May 1908) was an Italian composer and organist. He was born and died in the small Ligurian coastal town of Cipressa, near Imperia Imperia (; lij, Inpêia or ) is a coastal city and ''comune'' in the Regions of Italy, region of Liguria, Italy. It is the capital of the Province of Imperia, and historically it was capital of the ''Intemelia'' district of Liguria. Benito Muss .... A well-off landowner, he was also an organist and pianist. On Sundays he used to play organ and conduct small choirs in two neighbouring churches, before going on to play dance music in marriages and balls later in the day. His son, Giovanni Battista Garibaldi (1862–1938), succeeded him as organist at Cipressa. Garibaldi's set of seventeen ''Versetti'' for organ was uncovered and published in 2004 by Michelle Bernard in the academic journal ''Organi Liguri''. Giuseppe Gariboldi
Giuseppe (Francesco Gabriele Patrizio Gaspare) Gariboldi (17 March 1833, Macerata – 12 April 1905, Castelraimondo) was an Italian flautist and composer. In 1856, after studies with Giuseppe D'Aloe, he moved to Paris, where he worked as a composer and flute virtuoso. From 1859 to 1861, he concerted in Belgium, Netherlands, England and Austria. During the Franco-Prussian War, in 1870, he worked in the Red Cross. From 1871 to 1895, he taught flute and composition at the college Rollen (now Lycée Jacques-Decour) in Paris. In 1905, he returned with his family in Italy. His works include numerous flute pieces (both solo and with piano accompaniment). A few of his studies and études are still used in teaching, namely ''Etudes mignonnes'' op. 131, ''20 Petites Etudes'' op. 132, ''Exercices journaliers'' op. 89 and 15 ''Etudes modernes et progressives''. Liguria (; lij, Ligûria ; french: Ligurie) is a Regions of Italy, region of north-western Italy; its Capital city, capital is Genoa. Imperia (; lij, Inpêia or ) is a coastal city and ''comune'' in the Regions of Italy, region of Liguria, Italy. It is the capital of the Province of Imperia, and historically it was capital of the ''Intemelia'' district of Liguria. Benito Mussolini created the city of Imperia on 21 October 1923 by combining Porto Maurizio and Oneglia, as well as the surrounding village communes of Piani, Caramagna Ligure, Castelvecchio di Santa Maria Maggiore, Borgo Sant'Agata, Costa d'Oneglia, Poggi, Torrazza, Moltedo and Montegrazie.
