Giuseppe Chiaramonte
Giuseppe Carlo Chiaramonte (born February 19, 1976) is an American former professional baseball catcher. Chiaramonte attended Soquel High School in Soquel, California and Fresno State University, where he played for the Fresno State Bulldogs baseball team in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division I. At Fresno State, Chiaramonte was named a First Team NCAA Division I All-American, named Fresno State male Athlete of the Year, and WAC All-Star catcher in 1997. In 1996, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League and was named a league all-star. Chiaramonte was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the fifth round (148th overall) of the 1997 Major League Baseball Draft. Catcher
Catcher is a Baseball positions, position in baseball and softball. When a Batter (baseball), batter takes their at bat, turn to hit, the catcher crouches behind home plate, in front of the (home plate, home) Umpire (baseball), umpire, and receives the ball from the pitcher. In addition to this primary duty, the catcher is also called upon to master many other skills in order to field the position well. The role of the catcher is similar to that of the wicket-keeper in cricket. Positioned behind home plate and facing toward the outfield, the catcher can see the whole field, and is therefore in the best position to direct and lead the other players in a defensive play. Fenway Park is a baseball stadium located in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, near Kenmore Square. Since 1912, it has been the home of the Boston Red Sox, the city's American League baseball team, and since 1953, its only Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise. The All-Star Futures Game is an annual baseball exhibition game hosted by Major League Baseball (MLB) in conjunction with the mid-summer MLB All-Star Game. A team of American League-affiliated prospects competes against a team of National League-affiliated prospects.
