Gisela Fischer
Gisela Fischer (21 April 1929 – 19 June 2014) was a German-born stage actress, stage, film actress, film and television actress. Biography She was the granddaughter of the publisher Samuel Fischer. Her family fled from the Nazi German regime, and she grew up in a number of countries including Italy, Czechoslovakia and Japan before settling in Connecticut in New England. Ultimately she moved and based herself in Switzerland in the Post-war, postwar era. ''Torn Curtain'' is a 1966 American Political thriller, political thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, and starring Paul Newman and Julie Andrews. Written by Brian Moore (novelist), Brian Moore, the film is set in the Cold War. It is about an American scientist who appears to defector, defect behind the Iron Curtain to German Democratic Republic, East Germany. Plot In 1965, Michael Armstrong (Paul Newman), a US physicist and aerospace engineering, rocket scientist, is traveling to a conference in Copenhagen with his assistant and fiancée, Sarah Sherman (Julie Andrews). Armstrong receives a Radiogram (message), radiogram to pick up a book in Copenhagen; it contains a message which says, "Contact in case of emergency." He tells Sherman he is going to Stockholm, but she discovers he is flying to East Berlin and follows him. "Piggies" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1968 album ''The Beatles'' (also known as "the White Album"). Written by George Harrison as a social commentary, the song serves as an Orwellian satire on greed and consumerism. Among several elements it incorporates from classical music, the track features harpsichord and orchestral strings in the baroque pop style, which are contrasted by Harrison's acerbic lyrics and the sound of grunting pigs. Although credited to George Martin, the recording was largely produced by Chris Thomas, who also contributed the harpsichord part.
