Girls Academy
Girls Academy (GA) is a soccer league and development platform for female soccer players in the United States. Formed in 2020, the league features youth academies and youth clubs from various organizations, including National Women's Soccer League. History Citing the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced it was ending the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, leaving top boys and girls clubs to look for a new home. Former Development Academy clubs had a few options, choosing to move to either the already established Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), or the Girls Academy, founded by a group of leaders from the Development Player League (DPL). Lesle Gallimore
Lesle D. Gallimore (born October 17, 1963) is an American soccer coach and sports administrator who is currently the commissioner of the Girls Academy League. She most recently coached the women's soccer program at the University of Washington and retired as the winningest coach in program history. Her career victories rank in the top 25 in Division I women's soccer history. Gallimore participated in 21 NCAA Tournaments, including three as a player at California (1983, 1984, 1986), three as an assistant coach at California (1986–1988) and 15 as the head coach at Washington (1994–1996, 1998, 2000–2001, 2003–2004, 2008–2010, 2012, 2014–2015, 2019). Amy Griffin
Amy Griffin (; born October 25, 1965) is an American soccer coach and former player. As a player, Griffin played for the United States women's national soccer team and won the 1991 FIFA Women's World Cup. She is currently the head coach of the United States deaf soccer women's national team. Early life Griffin grew up in Federal Way, Washington, where she attended Decatur High School and played for the club soccer team, F.C. Royals. University of Central Florida Griffin attended the University of Central Florida where she played goalkeeper for the Knights from 1984–1987. In 1987, she was named NCAA's Adidas Goalkeeper of the Year. Griffin and teammate Michelle Akers helped lead UCF to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Final Four in 1987. Haley Carter
Haley Carter (; born June 21, 1984) is a former United States Marine Corps officer and retired American professional soccer player. She is currently general manager and vice president of soccer operations for Orlando Pride of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). She is the former assistant coach for the Afghanistan women's national team and goalkeeper coach for the Antigua and Barbuda women's national team. National Women's Soccer League
The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is a professional women's soccer league at the top of the United States league system. It is owned by the teams and, until 2020, was under a management contract with the United States Soccer Federation. The NWSL was established in 2012 as the successor to Women's Professional Soccer (WPS; 2007–2012), which was itself the successor to Women's United Soccer Association (2001–2003).
