''Girl Happy'' is the tenth soundtrack album by American singer and musician Elvis Presley, released on RCA Victor Records in monaural, mono and stereo, LPM/LSP 3338, in March 1965 – the March 1 date is disputed. It is the soundtrack to the 1965 Girl Happy, film of the same name starring Presley. Recording sessions took place at Radio Recorders in Hollywood, California, on June 10, 11, 12, and overdubbing, vocal overdubs by Presley on June 15, 1964. It peaked at number eight on the Billboard 200, Top LP's chart. It was certified Gold on July 15, 1999 by the Recording Industry Association of America. Content Excluding the singles compilation album, compilation ''Elvis' Golden Records Volume 3'', this was the sixth original Presley album in a row that was a soundtrack to a feature film. Decca Records is a British record label established in 1929 by Edward Lewis (Decca), Edward Lewis. Bill Haley & His Comets were an American rock and roll band founded in 1947 that continued until Haley's death in 1981. The band was also known as Bill Haley and the Comets and Bill Haley's Comets. From late 1954 to late 1956, the group record nine Top 20 singles, one of which was number one and three that were Top Ten. The single "Rock Around the Clock" was the best-selling rock single in the history of the genre and maintained that position for several years. " The Meanest Girl in Town", also known as "Yeah, She's Evil!" is a rock and roll song written by Joy Byers, which was recorded in June 1964 by both Elvis Presley, as "The Meanest Girl in Town" for the soundtrack to the 1965 film release ''Girl Happy'', and by Bill Haley & His Comets as "Yeah, She's Evil!" for a Decca Records single release. Haley's recording was released during the summer of 1964, predating Presley's release (on the soundtrack to ''Girl Happy''), although Presley actually recorded his version several days before Haley: on June 10, 1964, for Presley, versus June 16, 1964 for Bill Haley & His Comets. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is a trade organization that represents the music recording industry in the United States.
